Reinstalled again...help with origin error - nothing has worked Empty Reinstalled again...help with origin error - nothing has worked

Post by Guest Tue 09 Feb 2016, 04:13

ETA2: I uninstalled again and removed files like below, deleted registry, etc. Then I loaded all the files from the site - the base program, get to work, get together, and then the llama fix. I am still having the same origin error. I don't know if it's related, but I can't even log into origin it seems like it's a server error on their end, but I don't know. I'm out of ideas. All I can think of is there is still some remnant of one of the other installs I missed. Would it fix it to buy the base game? I know that I would have to use the cracked version, but if buying it would make the install actually work it's worth it then download all the DLC packs etc. Also one other thing in the one alternative post it says to check the date & size of the dll file that confuses me, because according to the install, the game was precracked

Please help!

__
I have tried installing from different places (reloaded, fitgirl, & most currently asaya repack). No matter what I have done (tried moving the folder to under programs, to the desktop, to open from file location rather than the shortcut...) I continue to get the origin error. I have virus protection off and added the folder to exceptions. I even tried downloading and installing origins (legitimately).

I found this site and realized regardless of if I could get it to work (which I can't) installing from this site with the updates seems SO MUCH easier, so I am ready to try this next. However, I am wondering since at this point nothing has worked, if it is because I already installed it (without success) different times. I have used uninstall, deleted registry keys, and deleted the folder in my documents. As I go through taking time downloading from this site now and then installing all over again, is there anything else I need to do to completely wipe it? My restore points for whatever reason didn't save so I can't just roll back. I just don't want to spend hours starting all over again if I need to do something else first.

ETA I kept searching on this forum and found one other thing to try, it said to remove origin folders in these files, which I did, which didn't make a difference. C:\Users\\appdata\local\ and C:\Users\\appdata\roaming\

Also I found this, which is what confuses me. "If you get the "Unable to start: Origin is currently not running. Please make sure that Origin is running" - is this then supposed to be downloaded and installed from the official site (by the way I did install it I didn't log in or anything)

Thanks

Thanks. Windows 7 64bit and AVG free

//EDIT

As per another thread, my laptop will not install, so I wanted to install Sims on my PC. I too have the same problem, so now I can't install Sims period:( I have a small SSD for just Windows 1x SSD (bigger) for programs and 3 other 1 TB SATA drives so no reason to pay for a new SSD. I specifically wanted it separated and just went through reinstalling Window 7 64bit and all my programs onto X.

I tried installing to C with intentions to move it, but the installer says there isn't enough room, and even though shows the other drive won't let you change it.

Am I correct to assume that I couldn't purchase a legit copy of the sims 4 and install it to X and then just install the DLC packs from here? I read somewhere on the board that with a legit copy you are still using the cracked version to install the packs.

I was thinking I get that it's harder to make the installer be for any folder (I have no idea how you guys even make an installer lol and understand the program folder being easy) but isn't it possible to make the same folders (Program Files (x86) ) but just in whatever drive you extract the install files? I would think this would be the answer so that way novices could just install to the right place in C but others could change it. Although please forgive me if that is something impossible, I just only wondered because I figured it had to do more with folder structure and maybe could be just a relative link rather than absolute. I'm just sad at this point I don't know what else to do. I really can't change around default drives because I had been having issues with Windows even booting to the correct drive and finally fixed it.

Please try uninstalling AVG free, this is a bad program. And then re-boot the computer. After which you re-apply the latest G4TW update for The Sims 4 ("Get together"). Then try the game again.

Also, I saw you posting across various other threads about a different issue than this (installing on another disc partition ?). Let's keep all discussions in this thread only, to make things easier to follow. Smile

//EDIT

I merged your other post into this topic here. As for your other issue, you don't need to buy a legit Origin basegame if you are low on space. You could in theory install the game (from G4TW) on another computer, and then transfer the installation folder and relevant registry keys onto your own computer, for example by means of a USB-flashdrive. See if this topic here answers your questions in this regard:
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t21656-transferring-sims-4-to-another-computer

Good luck ! And yes, we will indeed think about a re-release of the Sims 4 base game. too. Smile

Reinstalled again...help with origin error - nothing has worked Empty Re: Reinstalled again...help with origin error - nothing has worked

Post by Guest Fri 12 Feb 2016, 18:24

Sorry I thought using a separate thread for the separate issue was better. So here is an update on both issues:

For my PC (the one low on space) I went ahead and chanced changing the default install folder registry in order to install and it worked!

For my laptop (where I really want to run it, I tried it on my PC more to see if it would install correctly) I still have the origin error. The thing is both computers have AVG installed so I don't think that is the problem, as I turned it off for both installs (speaking of what is a good program? Many of them delete "infected" files without asking after downloading something, which is why I kept AVG because I could stop it).

I'm thinking that since both computers are also the same operating system that maybe something is still there from my first attempts. I had tried installing TS4 from other locations before I found out about this site. I wonder if it's causing a conflict. One was fitgirl, one was asaya, and one was reloaded none of which worked. One gave a different error. Maybe I'm missing a file or something somewhere. I uninstalled and reinstalled origin but nothing seemed to work.

Would it be better to copy the install from my PC? I will try via that tutorial link to copy to an external drive and transfer to the laptop. I'm just not sure if it will matter since I installed in exactly the right way, but first, will the linking be mixed up since I installed on the PC on drive X? Or do I just change the registry keys (not sure what they say I haven't looked inside).

If you want to transfer The Sims 4 over to another computer, ALL you need to do is to copy & paste the install folder, to wherever you like (on your "target" computer"), and then import the registry entries too.

And having AVG on both computers doesn't itself say anything yet. The error can have a variety of reasons, most of which can't really be "grasped" though unfortunately. Try de-activating AVG then and/or configuring exclusions when you copy your installation from the desktop, yes.

P.S. I myself use avast. See this post here for some reasons why. Smile

Reinstalled again...help with origin error - nothing has worked Empty Registry problem?

Post by Guest Sun 14 Feb 2016, 20:41

EDIT: Since I had only ran the one reg file I went ahead and ran for 64 bit and deleted the stuff under the nested wow folder. Then I uninstalled Origin and deleted the temp files I had mentioned before in app data. Still getting the "origin is currently not running" error. I'm not sure if there are Origin registry files I should delete? Should I uninstall it all and run a registry cleaner? (and if so what is a good one?)

One more thing. I don't remember the PC install having an mdc folder under maxis in the 64bit regedit which has filename this: C:\Users\MYUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Temp\{997F1F6E-E2EE-402B-BBFB-AD28ED2D7FA5}\setup.exe Should that be there and should the temp file be there? I don't have access to the PC at the moment to check if it was there. I have nothing else from Maxis installed.
---------

I think I may have found the issue, I'm kind of afraid to delete it, so I will only delete the entries not the folder.

When I was comparing registry entries between my PC and the laptop I found some things were different - game explore code was different, the install directory was set to one I had used on one of the previous installs, and the GDF Binary was missing.

I imported and tried clicking on the registry I exported and nothing changed. It was then that I noticed that the regedit (this is the 32 bit version I exported from both running it through run with 64 and just regedit) is in this file:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Wow6432Node\Maxis\The Sims 4

When I went out of the nested folder, the keys were like on my PC, so I don't understand why there is this duplicate folder inside wow6432node. I changed the game explorer code there as well as the install dir but couldn't figure out how to actually add a key, as the import was putting it only in the correct place. I tried running it like this with the same error.

I'm guessing this may be the problem as this seems to be the only thing different that I can find. I'm going to try deleting the maxis folder under wow6432 (I read some things that people had nested folders and deleting caused problems, so I don't want to delete the whole duplicate, even if sims is the only thing in it).

I'll post how it goes. If it doesn't work I'll wipe all the keys again and try from the beginning, now that it's apparent that on uninstall I missed something. The two spots running 64 and 32 should be the only ones that should be there, right?

No. I'm trying to run CCleaner now on just the registry (not sure if it can mess up a crack?). I think somehow that old install is not all gone which is why the wrong registry entries were there to begin with still. Did you install more than one version?

Just make sure you check using both RUN and entering %systemroot%\syswow64\regedit and also just using regedit if you are using 64 bit

the weird thing is.. the 2 people out of 100 i installed for both made all their Hard disks into partitions. Dont know if this is a problem with a sensitive game like the sims 4. I am really out of ideas. Dont know how to check a register and share here as well. maybe someone can take a look.

Reinstalled again...help with origin error - nothing has worked Empty NEW UPDATE

Post by Guest Sun 14 Feb 2016, 23:27

Ok, so I uninstalled origin and sims 4. I ran the CCleaner. I deleted any registry files I found.

I transferred the program files folder and the documents folder. Then I ran the reg files I had exported from the PC. And I have the same issue with it saying Origin isn't running.

Here are where I exported the registry. Does anyone know if I missed something?

Under 64 regedit (under run %systemroot%\syswow64\regedit)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Maxis\The Sims 4
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Maxis\The Sims 4\DLCs
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Maxis\The Sims 4\DLCs\The Sims 4 Digital Soundtrack
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Maxis\The Sims 4\InstallOptSelect

And
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{48EBEBBF-B9F8-4520-A3CF-89A730721917}

Then under regedit the same things but under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node

(I guess you can actually access all of that from both regedits, but I had read somewhere I forget to run both, because certain parts anyway are different like when I had to change the default program install directory to load on the pc on the other drive)

I also now noticed HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Electronic Arts\EADM which I don't know if it is on the PC I can't check right now, but it's there too on the laptop, but the entry is just default.

EDIT: I also tried running it from my external drive rather than on the laptop which gave the same error, so it's not the actual installed files.

I'll try erasing and starting from scratch with the download, but it's likely that will do the exact same thing. Do I need to unstall or delete anything to do with the C++ etc extra stuff?

//EDIT

Reinstalled from scratch and the same error. I don't understand the error though bc even if you install origin it doesn't fix the error. Any other suggestions? I'll buy the main program if that would fix the load error, even if after you are using the cracked one.

Post by The_gh0stm4n Tue 16 Feb 2016, 03:54

@merlina, you're focussing far too much on the registry, which isn't even that important in The Sims 4. The ONLY registry entry that the game seems to use is the GDFBinary-one. I suggested though to export the entire entry for simplicity, and to lessen the confusion. If I only said "you only need to export the GDFBinary" people would then reply "huh what's that ?". Razz  So it's sometimes more feasible to simplify things a little bit, even when it's not quite correct from a factual standpoint.

And when you export the right entry, there won't be any "duplicates" on the other computer. If I recall correctly, I only exported the folder "The Sims 4", under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Maxis. I'm not on my main desktop computer right now, so I can't check it here though.

If you can't get it working on your laptop, then I'm unsure what else to suggest. In the past I suggested to re-install Windows, but that will be up to you.

I will try getting rid of the other entries though it sounds like that won't matter. I wasn't so much concerned with getting the new entries in (since I tried the reinstall) more about if the old entries (and origin) were gone, hoping I didn't miss any, because when I checked the first time it had the duplicate wow folder with incorrect entries that were linking to the old install in c:/games (I don't remember which entries it was and if gfbinary was ok). I just was assuming there might be something left since it still gives the error. I just wish it was really just that origin wasn't running or I would install it, but I'm assuming that could screw it up more?

I am considering on the PC that works reinstalling it a second time on my portable drive to see if the laptop will run it directly from there, though I have to assume that it isn't the actual files that are having a problem but something else. Reinstalling Windows may be an option in the future, I just hate to go through that and have it still not work if it's just something with the laptop. I wonder if a legit version would even run. It's too bad you can't just install the cracked expansions with that or I would do that.

Running Origin alongside the pirated TS4 game will have the effect that you can run the base game, but without DLC. That is a known disadvantage, however, there might be a lot more disadvantages that we are unaware of. In general, we suggest to NOT run Origin. You don't need it in order to run the pirated TS4 - even if the error message tries to persuade you in this way. The problem behind the message is that the crack-files include an Origin-emulator embedded in them already. And these crack-files are extremely susceptible to anti-virus and firewall interferences. At least in our experience. There may be other reasons, but I'm not sure.

Yes, try putting those game files on a portable drive and see what happens. Smile

Other than that, I'm clueless for now, I'm sorry. WhatDidUJustCallMe?  But we have some other games too, if you are still interested, such as The Sims 2 (which I consider far more superior to TS4 anyway, although the graphics look horrible in my eyes Razz ).
