Sims 3 "unknown error occurred" problem! PLEASE HELP

I downloaded sims 3 and when I try to open the application to install it, it says "unknown error occurred". I googled all types of solutions for this problem, none has worked for me. The most common one where I should open preferences in library and delete sims related files didn't work since there are no sims files on it to begin with. I'm running OS X El capitan version 10.11 on macbook pro. Can someone please help??
