The Sims 4 Update-Only? [SOLVED] Empty The Sims 4 Update-Only? [SOLVED]

Post by Guest Tue 22 Nov 2016, 15:27

Hi.
I had previously downloaded The Sims 4 on my Mac, but deleted it shortly after.
I have now decided to re-download it on my home PC, but have run across countless problems, in which I couldn't find any fix for. (The game is cracked by the way, not original)

To begin with, yes I did download the game from G4TW, the latest version.
My problem is the common error of "Initialization error at start up". Originally I added the Ultimate Fix to the game, but that seemed to end up giving me another error, being the "Origin is currently not running" error. I have tried almost every solution out there to fix the "Origin is currently not running" error, such as:

- Disabling/Adding exceptions to Windows Defender
- Adding exceptions to my only anti-virus
- Allowing TS4 through my firewall
- Uninstalling and reinstalling Origin and the game several times
- Keeping Origin closed
- Keeping Origin open
- Completely uninstalling Origin
- Etc etc

As for the "Initialization error at start up" error, I have also tried all the fixes given by Carlos in the thread explaining how to fix the error. I have also read and tried the fixes of other fellow uses, with no luck at all.

I would love to play this game, but it seems almost impossible at this point. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Hello again and sorry for the late reply,

All these problems about the "origin must be running error"...I wonder if that could be an indicator of the game being rather difficult to crack? And therefore, the resulting cracks being unusually prone to various interferences?

You probably also tried moving the install folder to C:\Program files (x86) ?

Have you also tried adding the downloads folder (!) to the exclusions? And have you tried adding just the No-Origin files here?

Hi Carlos! Thanks for your reply.

Yes, I have tried moving it under Program Files (x86). I have also tried adding the Downloads folder to the exclusions and have tried adding just the No-Origin files, with no luck.

I have actually reverted to downloading it back onto my Macbook and it works like a charm (other than lots of mods not showing up WhatDidUJustCallMe?). I guess I'll just leave it that way for the time being. I'll update you on whether or not I find a solution.

Cheers.

//EDIT

Hi.

So recently I started a topic asking for a fix to an error I had with Sims 4, but now that I've downloaded the game on my Macbook and it works like a charm, I've come back to asking another question.

I made the mistake of adding the Ultimate Fix before backing up my save directory, so I ended up with the same error of "Origin is not running". And due to that, I went back to my previous version of TS4, but when I launched it I was greeted by another error, being "The contents of your save directory were created by a newer version of The Sims 4, please update the game through Origin to play". This is quite troublesome as I've spent quite a lot of time making my house and what not in the game.

Due to all this, I have come to the question of why the "Update-Only Ultimate Fix" has been removed? Is there any way I can simply update my game without any of the expansion packs?

*I may have actually figured out why I get the "Origin is not running" error. Although it doesn't make too much sense, I actually don't have the Get to Work and Get Together expansion packs, and aren't those needed for the Ultimate Fix? Trouble is, I tried downloading both expansion packs, but then I get "The contents of the game are either lost or damaged. Please reinstall The Sims 4".

So I'm not sure what I should do now. I'd love the expansion packs and an update but there seems to almost be no way of getting them.

Cheers.

The contents of your game .... error is simple to avoid.
Remove the file GameVersion from Documents - Electronic Arts - The Sims 4.

Please try Tarac's suggestion there.
And no, unfortunately you can not have an up-to-date game without having all the available packs at this time.

The update-only fix was removed because it would make the game freeze/crash. It used to work in the very beginning, but as of right now it doesn't work anymore. My guess was that you'd have to slightly modify the crack-files, for an update-only fix to work. But that would take an immense effort, which in the end would only be used by...maybe 1 out of 10 users. A.k.a., the vast majority of players want the "entire pack" anyhow.

When the update for City Living comes out, I'll think about it again, but no promises.

OK, sorry to hear that. WhatDidUJustCallMe?

I was now thinking this, if you like, you could pack your current No-Origin files (those that are inside your Game\Bin subdirectory of the game) in WinRAR, and then upload the file to a filehosting service - you can post the link in a reply here.

Specifically, the pack should include the:
- TS4.exe
- TS4_x64.exe
- RlDOrigin.dll
- and just to be sure, also the RlDOrigin.ini

I will be doing some testing and experiments with those files, and maybe (if I get enough "samples" from users) it can help us shed more light on the issue.

But take your time, and good to hear that it at least works "somewhat" on Mac OS!

Maybe one of the mods/admins is willing to upload his/her Bin folder ?
That would do the trick I guess.
Although mine is available, I'm not allowed to publish the outside link.

When you/they also own an original bought version of the sims 4, copy the file Default from Program Files (x86) - Origin Games - The Sims 4 - Game - Bin over to the same location of your pirated installation folder.
You'll then trigger the latest version number without actually having it.

The Sims 4 Update-Only? [SOLVED] Empty Re: The Sims 4 Update-Only? [SOLVED]

Post by Guest Sun 27 Nov 2016, 03:04

Hi.
Thanks for all your replies!
As for deleting the GameVersion from my Documents, I actually remember someone suggesting that and it did the trick, so thanks!

However, I would still like to be able to play an updated version of the game. As of now I can't seem to figure out a way how as I can't install the Get to Work and Get Together expansion packs, and both of those packs are needed for the Ultimate Fix to work.

Perhaps if someone could actually lend me their Bin folder and I could try it out?

The actual reason behind me wanting to get an updated version of the game is because when I have downloaded some mods into the game, most don't show up, and I can only assume that it's due to the game being slightly outdated (and yes, the mods are up-to-date).

If someone could help me find out the problem behind these mods not showing up without me having to update the game, that would also be great!

Cheers.

The Sims 4 Update-Only? [SOLVED] Empty Re: The Sims 4 Update-Only? [SOLVED]

Post by Guest Sun 27 Nov 2016, 15:36

Thanks Carlos!
Unfortunately, it didn't work too well.

I ended up getting the "Origin is not running" error all over again. I'm so sick of this error. I ran Origin in Offline Mode and then I get a "Please run the game as administrator and make sure Origin is not running if you are playing for the first time", in which I am not playing for the first time.

I seriously can't seem to understand the problem with this error. I always get it when I apply the Ultimate Fix or, in this case, try and update the game. It surely is odd.

Any help is greatly appreciated again.

The Sims 4 Update-Only? [SOLVED] Empty Re: The Sims 4 Update-Only? [SOLVED]

Post by Guest Tue 29 Nov 2016, 02:36

Alright.

Well since there currently doesn't seem to be a solution to how I can update the Sims, does anyone actually know why most of the mods I've downloaded don't show in the game?

They're all furniture mods, and I immediately assumed that it's due to the game being outdated. But is it? I mean some new mods seems to work on the game, but older mods don't? It's like an odd mix.

Any help on that would be nice.

Post by Guest Thu 01 Dec 2016, 06:26

Alright, small update.
I ended up following a tutorial given by a forum member here on how to fix the "Origin is not running" error on Sims 4 for Mac. He/she stated that I should install Origin* on the same Wine wrapper as The Sims 4, and that's what I did.

*Just some quick clarification, I had to install an older version of Origin as the latest one didn't seem to want to work. It gave me this error: "This version of Origin only works on Windows 7 and higher operating systems". I downloaded a previous version which worked on most older versions of Windows and Origin installed completely fine.

After all of this, I launched the game with lots of hope of it working. Unfortunately, I was hit by another dead end. Back to the "Initialisation error at start up" error, now on my Mac as well. Am I doomed to be stuck with an old outdated version of Sims 4?

Any help on this is appreciated, bare in mind I'm using Mac so most of the solutions given for this error wouldn't work..

The Sims 4 Update-Only? [SOLVED] Empty Re: The Sims 4 Update-Only? [SOLVED]

Post by Guest Sun 04 Dec 2016, 08:13

Alright, quite a major update!
I was getting quite frustrated with The Sims 4, so I decided to actually take matters into my own hands and just mess around with other versions of the game.

So what I did was I installed Fitgirl's Repack, which is currently running the latest Ultimate Fix version with all the DLCs. I used the same method of installation with Wineskin and ended up with an error when I tried to launch it; "Origin is still running", yeah, that error.

But what I did was I tried the exact same thing as the G4TW game and I installed an older version of Origin in the same wrapper. Guess what, it worked!

I think this serves as a temporary fix until I am actually able to get G4TW's version to work with the latest Ultimate Fix.

Cheers!
