The Sims 3 Mac Empty The Sims 3 Mac

I followed all the instruction in the new Guide for downloading the Sims 3 on Mac and everything went smoothly. I made a folder in application called the sims 3 and installed the game there. The only problem is that when I start installing the expansion packs in the Installation point a pop up will appear telling me:
The Sims 3 (expansion) Compatibility error.
The version of The Sims 3 installed is not updated and is not compatible with the The Sims 3 (expansion).

Can somebody please explain to me how to fix this, and what am I doing wrong?

Did you update to 1.67? If you didn't, that might be the solution.
