Sims 3 - Buying an object, game freezes and then crashes.

Well, it wouldn't be another 24 hours if Gasper didn't have an issue with the Sims 3, now would it?
When I go into buy mode (everything is smooth sailing thus far) and I try to buy any object (absolutely anything) I try to move it.
I get my mouse moving maybe an inch and then the game freezes and then I am forced to shut it down.
So, what... I never buy anything... Ever?
Help is always received and I am happy for that.

Hi, just want to thank you for all the support you are giving to everybody. I know they appreciate it, even if they don't say so.

So, to get to my problem (well, one of them Razz

) I have the same problem as Gasper, I have applied the fix, however when i attempt to update the game it downloads fine and then it says Invalid file detected therefore I can't update the game. Any suggestions?

Thank you for your kind words, we're happy to help.
The invalid file error is quite easily solved by updating the game manually.

For future reference: Its best to open your own topic so we have an easier time keeping track of users' problems because the solutions isn't necessarily the same for everyone.

So, I have tried all the fixes and the problem still occurs.
I have made sure to uninstall all my mods (I can get updated ones at a later date.)
Any specific help for this problem?

I did everything you said.
And now it says that "A fatal error has happened while trying to open (insert family here). It is recommended that you restart this application."
Something along those lines.

This can only get better.

Hello,
If you tried this option:

1. Go to: (My) Documents\Electronic Arts\
2. Backup (Read: copy to an other folder) the folder called "The Sims 3".
3. Now completely remove the "The Sims 3" folder from: (My) Documents\Electronic Arts\
4. Start the game and see if it works now. If not, please continue with the other possible solutions from this page.

You shouldn't be able to start your save game at all. The idea here is to make the game think its dealing with a fresh install and create a fresh folder in "my documents". If you started the game, you wouldn't see your previous save games if done correctly.
It'll help you determine whether its your game or your save game that's corrupted. Its also quite possible that you can put your save games back and never encounter another problem. Since other files are created anew if you removed this folder and these files can also become corrupted.
