Unable to pick aspiration at CAS

I just installed the Toddlers/Vampires pack and the Parenthood one following all the instructions very carefully. 

My game works fine throughout CAS until it reaches the part where you need to pick an aspiration. The aspirations show up, and once you click one of them to pick the "sub-aspiration" you want, all the icons there are white boxes and you become unable to click any part of the aspiration menu. 

I've tried the language fix that has been going around, starting the game without mods, deleting my Sims 4 file on my documents.. nothing has worked. Does anyone have any idea how to solve this issue? I'm not able to play the game at all because to start it you need to pick an aspiration...
