I keep getting this error:
It looks like you havei nstalled an unofficial game modification that does not match your current version of The Sims 3. We recommend that you either uninstall these game modifications or get updated versions of them - otherwise you may experience crashes or significant bugs.

I tried the fixes I found that apply on here. I downloaded all available Sims 3 Packs and used the cracks posted on this website.

The game runs until I try to go into the build/buy mode and the moment I place something it crashes.

Please, Please, Please Help?

Hello,
I'm assuming that you also got the temporary fix, which is causing this error at this point. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\Kim.KIMPC-92WL4MV42\Your PC\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages and delete the NoCD.package.
Now if you've also applied the official fix, I recommend reapplying it, and your problem should be solved.

I don't have a mods folder, I found the temporary fix but I can't find it again. I didn't use it at the time because I thought it said it was recommended. To be honest, I'm not very familiar with mods at all. The most I've done is downloaded the game torrents, cracks, and keygens. I changed the compatability modes to Windows 95 on all the .exe files... I'm not sure where I'm going wrong.

Hello,
No problem. Just get the fix now and apply it, see if it works. The link to the fix is found in my signature, when its finished, open with winRAR and let the #Installation Guide guide you.You can also watch this video to avoid confusion.

Oh, yes I did complete that. I read over the instruction guide as I did it and checked it a few times to be sure I put the cracks in the right spots.

Hello,
I believe something went wrong with the crack, can you post a screenshot of where you copied both files from the #crack folder to?

Hello,
That's the right place allright, and it looks like the right files, they come from the #crack folder?
If yes, let me ask you this: How did it go with the update, did you get any errors during the installations of the patch, and if you open your launcher and hover your mouse over the base game icon in the lower left corner, which version does it show?

Apparently the launcher is not - launching. I always leapfrogged it and opened straight from the crack. It's just how I learned how to do it. I just noticed the launcher won't open now. It was working this afternoon when this whole problem started.

Do you happen to have the program TeamViewer? I'll let you have remote control of my computer and figure this mess out.

I went through the C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin and went down to the Launcheer and I still can't get it to run. It spins like its going to and then nothing comes up.

Would it be easier to scrap the whole thing and try again tomorrow? I just don't understand what I did wrong.

//EDIT

oh, sorry. No errors at all.

Hello,
I'm about to head out for an hour or so, I'd be happy to give it a go later, though I should tell you that I'm inexperienced with teamviewer. But if you're sure the game is version 1.29, I'm not sure there's much I can do at this point since it looks like the crack went to the right place.
You could have a look at these though, things to try when you have crashing problems.

I'll probably be going to bed here shortly, but if you would like to give teamviewer a shot later I'm up for it.

I tried a few of those solutions earlier, but honestly with all the expansions it got tiresome after a while.

Thanks for all your help. I'm sure I'll be back on in the afternoon once I get some sleep. Can't believe its 7am already, geeze! Getting pretty frustrated with EA games right about now Razz

If I don't get it resolved, I might just try uninstalling a few of the expansions and running it as I go through to see if maybe I got a buggy torrent.

Thanks again,

Jess
