I'm not sure, I only downloaded the sims 3 base game, generations and the ultimate fix, all from here.

Open the launcher and hover your mouse over the base game icon in the lower-left corner of the launcher's screen.
The base game version should start with 1.x

Hello,
Actually, getting that error is normal. It's there because you're playing a cracked version of the game.
If you install any other expansions, the error will automatically disappear and it'll look like the original launcher.

And I've tried installing Generations but whenever I try to play it now it says I don't have the generations disc!

Did you apply this Fix at all: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t752-the-sims-3-ultimate-fix-should-fix-most-of-your-problems ?

Yes I did, and it still doesn't work!
I installed the sims 3 base game,
then the generations.
I applied the ultimate fix,
updated the thing that comes up as soon as I start the launcher.
And then it says i don't have a disc/or the screen goes white and the sims shuts down!

Oh no wait, lol, you're not on PC, sorry.

You copied the crack to the wrong folder. Did you use the Mac version of the Fix? If yes, read the instructions VERY carefully on where and how to apply the crack. It goes into the base game's installation folder and NOT the expansion's installation folder.

Yes I did that, I opened the Applications folder, clicked on the sims 3 folder, sims 3 icon->Show package contents->Contents/Resources/Transgaming/c_drive/Program files/Electronic arts/The Sims 3/Game/bin
I put the crack there!

Yeah, I tried it once before, but I couldn't understand a thing of Mac OS. Now I'm helping via TV again, but still I don't understand a tiny thing about this weird OS.

I'm now experimenting with Mac OS on my Virtual Machine. If I get it to work, I'll promise to write a complete "How to install The Sims 3 + Expansions on my Mac" -guide and (try to) answer all your Mac related questions!
