Initialization error after moving game folder to D:\ drive. [SOLVED] Empty Initialization error after moving game folder to D: drive. [SOLVED]

Post by Guest Tue 10 Oct 2017, 15:39

I tried to install to D:\ at first but since this G4TW version can't do that I let it install on C:\ instead, that drive was filling up so I decided to move the game to D:\ by referring to this guide. Now whenever I tried to start the game using TS4.exe or TS4_x64.exe it gives me this.

Initialization error after moving game folder to D:\ drive. [SOLVED] Untitled

Tried to put it back to the original location but it still won't start so I'm screwed, it doesn't give any error now but it just crashes immediately before showing anything. Anyone knows why this happens and if I could do something to fix it other than complete reinstall? I'm on Windows 7.

Hi there,

I'd suggest uninstalling the game completely and then re-install the base game at the intended location -> C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts. Afterwards, move the sims 4 folder out and placed them to your D Drive. Then, you can add in DLCs as per normal to your D Drive (sims 4 installation folder).

Do keep us updated! Very Happy

Hello,

Also make sure that you set the new "install location" of the game to the exclusions in Windows Defender and any other security software you may have. Whenever the install location changes the exclusions should be updated as well.

Before uninstalling, please try applying the fresh set of No-Origin file here:
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t23706-latest-available-no-origin-files-for-the-sims-4-version-1-33-38-1020

You have to copy/paste these files under D:\The Sims 4\Game\Bin. And replace the existing files in the location when prompted. Then try the game again.

The Sims 4 can be moved freely on your computer, to other directories (excl. Origin, Origin Games, Electronic Arts), other drives (also external drives).
The only condition is that for the 32 bits version you have to exclude the folder in your Anti-Virus and that you make a new SHORTCUT from the new location.
Usually it should be sufficient to exclude the file RldOrigin.dll anywhere in your AV.

In case your AV has already "attacked" this file, extract your latest download again and remove the existing Game folder and replace with the latest (just extracted) Game.
Bear in mind the additional fix for Toddlers Stuff.

Initialization error after moving game folder to D:\ drive. [SOLVED] Empty Re: Initialization error after moving game folder to D:\ drive. [SOLVED]

Edit2: Just for the sake of clarity, at first when I reinstalled I forgot to apply the error code 3 fix, so it can run albeit in spanish. I then applied the fix, so now the language in RldOrigin.ini is set to en_US, then I hit the same initialization error when I started it. Changed the language back to es_ES, and it can run again. What do I do now?  I is confused

Edit: Actually, I somehow made it work, but now changing the language results in the same error. I THINK somehow when I moved it to D:\ some weird language changing happens and made my game unable to run. Welp, at least now I know where the fault lies.

So I decided to reinstall the whole thing anyway, fresh extract from my previous download. I've also added my new location to my AV. Although I did check my AV before and it doesn't seem like it even touched the RldOrigin.dll file, but I did exclude the path just in case.

I installed the base game in C:\Program Files(x86)\ (the default install location), and after I installed the game, I moved it to D:\. Then I install install the DLCs in this new location, but I still can't get it to work!

Same error as before! What's wrong now... confused

A lot of AV programs 'trigger' when you move, copy or edit files/folders. Some programs don't even properly accept your input about exclusions ("increased user safety").

There is really not much behind it, and I'm sorry to hear you are having these difficulties, but most AV software is just garbage. At that point, try deleting the folder "Game" from your install directory. Then you download a fresh folder from one of the links here:
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t29990-fix-for-endless-household-loading-screen-version-1-33-38-1020

Please make sure that you actually add the location where your downloads are saved, to the "exclusions" as well. Then you place this freshly-downloaded folder into your install directory again.

Now try the game once more.

I did add the path to my exclusion list on my second reinstall, so that shouldn't be a problem, knowing that I installed the game just fine when I installed it in C:\ after adding it in the exclusion and I made sure by checking my virus chest/quarantine, there's nothing there.

Now I can run the game, but it does in Spanish. For some reason if I change it to english it gives me error. I have tried the solutions for the spanish language but so far still have no luck fixing it.

Hi @chocodrone,

Is the error the same (initialization) when you change the RldOrigin.ini to en_US? Or has another error appeared?

Maybe a stupid suggestion:
Did you really MOVE and not COPY the Sims 4 folder out of Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts ?

When you have 64-bits Windows there should not be any problems with AV whatsoever, provided you start your game with the TS4_x64.exe from Game/Bin

Sorry I didn't really remember which ones exactly, but I think it was the base game that was still in the Program Files(x86)\Electronic Arts folder before I moved the "The Sims 4" folder out to the program files folder instead on my first install.

OK, have fun with the game then and feel free to open another thread in the future again if you need more support or just want to hang out!

Problem solved, topic closed.
