My dillema about Sims 4 legit & downloaded from G4TW.

I thought a lot about in which forums I could post my issue, and I think this is the best one.

Namely, I kept downloading and playing the latest DLCs of Sims 4 from G4TW until the beginning of this year. Then, I started earning money but for a short time. Then I got the idea to purchase legit Sims 4 base game when it was on a big discount. I even bought after some time a bundle of one game pack and 2 stuff packs, and that was it. I played my legit game for a few months, loving the possibility to use those little perks, like the gallery, and getting the updates immediately. I told myself to be patient and to wait for a new occasion in which I'll could buy some other DLCs, and that I'll wait to collect them all, and to be up to date. But, when those few months passed, I missed the whole "package" of everything that exists in Sims 4 series. So I downloaded it again from G4TW, and played, having much more fun, of course. I even discovered that I can play the legit game in order to get items from the gallery and to use them in the pirated version.

I would love to be able to experience the thrill of getting the new DLC when it's released if you know what I mean.

It's just a matter of money. If you can spent your funds on all DLC's then YES, buy them. Support the developers !
When your main goal is to have new expansion the very moment they are published by Origin, then buying is the best option.
When you don't mind waiting less than 12 hours after release, then ZLOrigin is your best bet.
When you are prepared to wait just a bit longer, download via G4TW.

If I understand your dilemma correctly, you would rather support the developers and play a fair game, but simply can't shelve out the huge amount of cash they're asking. Personally, I think it's admirable that you purchased the base game and the bundle. After all, if everyone pirated the game it wouldn't exactly motivate the developers to create new content.

However, we mustn't forget EA is already raking in a lot of money and the sims series is a huge cash cow. That's not to say they don't deserve our support, but when it comes down to it, you have to eat too and pay your bills first.

^that advantage however is also becoming somewhat more difficult to "exploit". In the past it used to be mostly the case that when the Origin TS4 that you downloaded Gallery items with was on a higher patch version than the cracked TS4, you could not use Gallery items.

That means, in general you should download from the Gallery while both the cracked & legit game are on the same patch level. And this 'time window' is becoming shorter and shorter these days (deliberately, and in order to discourage users to take full advantage of Gallery items being shared like on Games4theworld here?). These mini-updates on the Origin TS4 are coming very frequently now, about every 2-3 months on average, or shorter?

@The_gh0stm4n, good working cracked updates for 1.34 and 1.35.10.1010 are already available on the internet, Update 1.35 already includes that new funpack that was launched 17th October (no additional FP but integrated in the base game Installer) and I'm not talking about ZLOrigin.

If we wanted to release those mini-updates, we would have done so by now. But as said elsewhere, we will wait until the Pets-DLC is released. The others can use zlOrigin and/or other download-sources for the time being.

I fully appreciate that but cracked version is still 1.33 so a lot of CC won't work properly.

This is an absolutely correct observation @Polarbear. Though we would have to distinguish between script mods and e.g. CAS items (the latter being less problematic typically, than script mods). But let's not be too pedantic for now.




However, I also admit (as much as certain people won't like to hear it) that I myself care less about those TS4 updates these days than I used to. Can't speak for the rest of the staffers, but that is my take. We will of course release TS4 updates until the end, but content-wise there will be some changes on here in due course.

And as mentioned, people can (and mostly do) use zlOrigin anyhow.

I said this in a previous post as well, i would love to buy the legit game because i am an inpatient woman And i do have a salary so i think i could get like a pack or two every so often . But my computer isn't up to part with the sims game requirements so it would make no difference to me now since even with a legit game i would still have the same crashes and would still need to play on very low resolution for it to work, so until i can fix up my PC i'm gonna patiently wait it out. After i get a few legit pack i actually wanna try YouTube recordings CAS and builds for start to see how it goes until i can get some kind of gear for recording but we'll see

If I had the money, I would buy the real one but it's terribly expensive considering I'm in college.

I suggest for the rest of people who are in a dilemma to wait for holidays where they usually go on sale, for example Christmas is coming and they always have sales on Christmas. You can buy the whole package it's probably cheaper than buying a few expansions unless you don't really want it.

I personally wouldn't buy the Vampires one because it's annoying as they always bite my Sims when I'm playing a human household.

So let's say i've created a sim and a lot back in Jan 2015 and upload it to the gallery, can i still share it to a friend who recently downloaded the latest cracked version? Or did EA updated the old files to the latest legit patch?

OLD Gallery items can be used freely in any cracked version of The Sims 4. The only problem is (maybe), as said, if you download items from an Origin game of The Sims 4, that has a higher patch version, than the cracked ones.

OLD Gallery items can be used freely in any cracked version of The Sims 4. The only problem is (maybe), as said, if you download items from an Origin game of The Sims 4, that has a higher patch version, than the cracked ones.

Ah thanks for the clarification, i'm not worried about newer versions since i'm not using mods nor am i in a hurry to get the p&d expansion. As for now i'm satisfied with the vanilla sims which has plenty of user made creations on the gallery to go around with
