ZClient trying to hijack my origin account? Empty ZClient trying to hijack my origin account?

Post by Guest Mon 12 Feb 2018, 20:18

I got an email about half an hour ago telling me there was a new sign in.

So I went to go login to my account (I was able to) and went to change my password but my security question was changed?

I have screenshots but am unable to upload due to being a new account. My new security question is in Chinese or Russian? The same language I saw when installing Sims 4 last night using ZClient.

I've never encountered a security question for Origin and ZLOrigin

ZClient trying to hijack my origin account? Empty ZClient trying to hijack my origin account?

Why did you close my last topic? Because I didn't leave the tab open to check for replies? It's Monday I had to work.

Like I said in my previous thread, I got an email this afternoon that read;

New Sign-in on WEB

Your EA Account -my email- was just used to sign in from WEB:

Mon Feb 12 18:23:50 GMT 2018
EG
WEB

So I logged into my origin account and went to my security settings and underneath my password my security question was in another language. I don't know if it was changed, or if I never set up one and someone else did. But what happened last night before I downloaded The Sims was that I opened the ZLOrigin program and it brought me to the login screen so I just logged in as usual. After I realized that wasn't correct, I logged out and opened the zclient before opening zlorigin and it signed me into an account I made on that zloemu website.

So perhaps that's how they got my account information. All I know is someone logged into my account today and my security question is in the same language that I saw on the ZLOrigin program (it's not in English but Russian I believe).

Like I also said, I have screenshots I will post if you allow me to upload them.

No, because your issue - at least in the way you describe it - doesn't make much sense in my opinion; I unlocked the thread nonetheless. And we have the tendency to proceed that way in these (rare) cases. I would have also preferred if you e-mailed me giving a brief heads-up instead of immediately opening a new thread, but let's not get too much into that now.

Let's assume by some wicked magic everything on your interface is in English, just not the part about your password/security question. One option is "grinding": if you know actually know your security answer, you can try cycling through the drop down-menu, and use each individual question, and then insert your security answer. Regardless of the display language, the general meaning of these questions is the same. So inserting the security answer must yield success at some point. There are also browser add-ons apparently that allow you to translate display text.

I'm not exactly sure if the following works: but you could also try changing the display language of Origin temporarily into something else, restart Origin, change it back to English, restart again, and then try editing your pass/security question. See if it is in English this time.

If you do NOT remember having created a security question then things get trickier, and I would not actually know any other means than contacting EA. I'm not sure how they proceed these cases, but it's fair to assume you will have to show some proof of ownership of the account.

For the issue, I'm sorry I can't give a more satisfactory reply. But yes, one thing we learn again from these things, is to use different login credentials (passwords), for different services. Even if it involves more effort.
