Question on updating Sims 3 Empty Question on updating Sims 3

I was following the guide here: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly-updated

And when I try to install any of the following expansions as stated in # 2 (Master Suite Stuff, Pets, Town Life Stuff, Generations) I cannot install them unless I do the update. I tried each expansion and to be able to install any of them I need to do the update first.

What do I do? The directions say to follow it precisely and it does not mention if I should install or not so I am lost.

Its safe to do the update. Use this manual patch if you get an error.
