Sims 4 won't start Empty Sims 4 won't start

Post by Guest Fri 10 Aug 2018, 12:47

Hi everyone,

My Sims 4 game used to run perfectly on my laptop, I had the expansions up to Fitness stuff. Recently I installed the rest of the expansion packs up to Seasons and the latest patch, but now when I try to start the game my screen goes white for a few seconds and shows that it's loading, then abruptly closes and goes back to home screen. There are no error messages. I followed all the steps one by one, reinstalled the base game and all the expansions carefully step by step, tried everything that was suggested in similar forum topics (putting in a new game folder, changing compatibility, renaming the folder in docs etc) but nothing works. Has anyone got any advice for me?

Thanks!

Perform THE VALIDATOR and place the report here.

Well, start with deleting all game 1-9 folders.
Then apply Seasons again, this should bring back your version to an earlier stage.
Then run the @Anadius1 full patch for version 1.44.88.1020, see HERE

Alternative solution:
Donload the all-in version 1.45.62.1020 via torrents HERE
When download (28,4 GB) is completed, delete your existing The Sims 4 folder and copy the Sims 4 folder from the all-in download to your (external) Hard disk.

Alright, so I did what you said. After applying the patch and trying to start the game, a notification came up: "Unable to start: the contents of your user directory were created by a newer version of the Sims 4..." etc. I followed a topic on the forum where that problem came up (cant post the link as I am a new member) , followed those steps, which resulted in another notification saying "the game cannot start because origin is running" or something like that. Bottom line the game still isn't working.

If you still have the .iso for the latest patch version (1.45.62.1020), please extract the files/folders from there again, and copy/paste them over your Sims 4 installation. Smile  See what happens next.

As an alternative: Delete the file GameVersion from Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4

Yep, reapplied the latest patch, deleted GameVersion, still just a blank screen for a moment and then back to Windows.

First of all validator says you're missing files from base game so no matter how many patches you apply you still won't be able to play. If you're sure you installed the base game I suggest looking for those files
data/client/clientfullbuild0.package
data/client/clientfullbuild1.package
data/client/clientfullbuild2.package
data/client/clientfullbuild3.package
data/client/clientfullbuild4.package
data/client/clientfullbuild5.package
data/client/clientfullbuild6.package
data/client/clientfullbuild7.package
data/client/clientfullbuild8.package
And putting them in correct folder. Then running validator again.

Yes I actually can't find any of these files, but I don't understand how that could've happened since I definitely re-installed the base game last night and followed ALL the instructions  WhatDidUJustCallMe? I guess I'm just going to have to re-install the entire thing all over again. Have you got any advice for me eg is it bad to install the base game and all the expansions all at once? All I did was install the base game in Program Files (x86), then installed every single expansion pack in order (renamed the game folder each time), moved Sims 4 to Program Files instead of Program Files (x86), applied the patch at the end... I really don't see where I'm going wrong, especially since the game used to work perfectly on my computer before  Wat.

Could it be that your base game is still in C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 ?
In that case your forgot to MOVE it (not Copy) to just C:\Program Files\The Sims 4.
Why renaming the Game folder every time ? That should only be done after Toddlers.

Have a look at THIS MANUAL

Yeah I did move the game, not copy. And with the Game folder it says in every pack instructions that it's highly recommended to either rename, move or delete?
I think I figured it out anyway - I think there was something wrong with my Visual C++ and that messed up everything else. I will update once I reinstall everything!

Update: it was the Visual C++ as I suspected, the game runs perfectly now! Thanks for the help anyway!
