Hello and welcome to the G4TW Forums @deneh,

Sorry to hear about your problems. Some people have said that using the 32-bit .exe of the game (TS4.exe) works better in that regard than the TS4_x64.exe. But then again, if in the meantime you already downloaded the newest University DLC, you won't have the 32-bit .exe anymore.

If your computer is otherwise weaker or older in terms of hardware, then there's still a few things you could try. Not that much, but still. Do a search for "Razer Cortex", which older users may remember as "Razer GameBooster". It can help free up system resources on your end, to improve game performance a bit.

Other than that try lowering your screen resolution and graphics settings in general.

Another thought: are you playing other games as well on that computer, besides Sims 4? Are they lagging as well? And what if you play completely without mods, in Sims 4, does it make any difference?

Hello, Thank you for the response. I will try using the "Razer Cortex" and see if it helps it work any better. my laptop is just about a year old it is a Acer Aspire E15 with a 1000 GB HDD and a 4.00GB Installed RAM with a Intel(R) core(TM) i3-7100U CPU @ 2.40GHz. system type 64-bit operating system.

The CPU seems to be not quite on the level of "recommended", according to the latest requirements:
https://www.origin.com/esp/en-us/store/the-sims/the-sims-4/expansion/the-sims-4-discover-university#store-page-section-requirements

But it should still be OK. What type of custom content or mods do you have? Did you already try removing all of them, just to see if it makes a theoretical difference...?
