When I place a lot, menus disappear

Whenever I place a lot, my game would keep me in the option to choose where the lot is placed, however the name of the lot don't show up and I am stuck on choosing a lot. When I click on a plot of land no options appear and if I try to exit to the menu it takes me into the viewing mode where I can circle around the house. If anyone can help me that would be really nice. I just used the all in one update patch. I'm also currently updating my mods so maybe thats an issue.
