Keep downloading OrangeEmu64.dll but it keeps disappearing! Empty Keep downloading OrangeEmu64.dll but it keeps disappearing!

Post by Guest Wed 01 Apr 2020, 22:32

So I've just downloaded The Sims 4 and a few DLCs, followed all the instructions very carefullly.

I kind of struggled with the firewall stuff because I've got Windows 10 Home and the instructions I found on here don't apply (for instance, I don't have the Hyper-V thing).

I've downloaded the fixed Game folder that I found on here, which has the OrangeEmu64.dll in it. I thought this would make it work because the system error was telling me I didn't have it. However, everytime I try to run the game, it deletes the file and says it's not found!!

Please can someone help me?! This is a new laptop that I've bought especially to play the Sims 4. Please use really simple terms though as I have absolutely basic knowledge!

Many thanks in advance!

Hello and welcome to the G4TW Forums @motherofhamsters,

The reason your stuff gets deleted is because some antivirus program is messing with you. Corporations don't want you to use cracked games, and instead pay a fortune for games plus a multitude of DLC. This is really the main reason antivirus programs are messing with people's stuff. Ironically, when it comes to REAL viruses or malware, mainstream antivirus programs ALMOST NEVER help. There are special versions of commercial antivirus software for e.g. military or other specialists, but I'm not sure if and to what extent these are available for civilian markets.

What you want to do first, is to try and configure your Windows Defender. Use method #2 in the following guide here. If you don't have Windows 10, please let me know. Because the guide is specifically for Windows 10 users:
https://www.games4theworld.club/t32067-two-ways-of-disabling-windows-defender-under-windows-10

So. Once you managed to do that, you will have to look at whatever else you have in terms of antivirus software. Try adding the installation path of your The Sims 4 game, to the "exclusions" [from scanning], so that your antivirus basically ignores your The Sims 4 installation folder. I can't really be more specific at that point, because of the multitude of available antivirus programs and the way they work. In case of doubt, try searching on the internet on how to properly configure exclusions. What's more, even if you do all of that, certain antivirus programs still delete your stuff. In which case you need to re-consider whether you want or need such an antivirus.

And, once you did THAT, please re-apply your latest "Game"-folder, and try starting the game. If you did everything right, nothing should be deleted anymore. Good luck!

//EDIT

So, it looks like your problem got far more complex than what you initially suggested. I would suggest that after configuring your antivirus exclusions, that you delete your "Game"-subfolder, and then familiarize yourself with the new format here:
https://www.games4theworld.club/t35810-the-sims-4-all-in-one-global-patch-selectable-dlcs-version-1-61-15-1020-tiny-living-stuff

So download & apply the "Global Patch", and grab anadius's dlc-toggler as well. Take the instructions from the .pdf file and/or the .mp4 video there.

Good luck again!

Thank you for your advice! So I managed to turn off my defender and other antivirus stuff, so I was convinced it would work! I redownloaded the patch, and already had the dlc-toggler (I followed all the instructions correctly initially anyway).

The Sims 4 decided to load... and then stopped/crashed after a few seconds!!! I'm pulling my hair out because I just don't know what's going wrong! I bought this laptop especially to play the Sims and I feel like I've wasted a lot of money if it won't work.

Also, I did notice that Seasons doesn't appear in the toggler?! Even though that's one of the ones I've downloaded (City Living, Seasons, Cats and Dogs, My First Pet Stuff, Dining Out, and Vintage Glamour Stuff)

Please actually re-download the dlc-toggler from the page I linked to before, because it is updated each time there is a new DLC. The latest version of the dlc-toggler definitely has Seasons included.

And by all means, run another validator check on your TS4 installation, and post the results here.
