manual update to version 1.32 invalid file found!! Empty manual update to version 1.32 invalid file found!!

Post by Sim Architect Mon 12 Mar 2012, 00:01

Hi there. There is another post with the exact same issue I am having, but it's closed to replies. I did everything step by step, even did that registry edit to 1 and back to 2 after, but still get the error when trying to apply the update to 1.32.

I just have a clean installation with the ultimate fix downloaded tonight. I followed all the instructions but still get that error, what could be wrong? Anybody else having the same problem?

Did you put the Ultimate Fix BEFORE you tried the Update?

Yes, I did.

----------

Shouldn't I?

//EDIT

I see I will have to uninstall everything and install the game with all
expansions as usual, and update it up to version 1.31 only. No cracks,
no fixes, maybe not even store content if I have problems again.
Everything was running smoothly with Master Suite Pack, I never had to
do any work around, just have an image loaded in my power iso virtual
drive all the time.

i think you do the wrong step!

to update your game, FIRST RESTORE ORIGINAL EXE OF THE SIMS 3

then update and at last apply the ultimate fix..

::::
if the patch detect your previous hacked exe it's normal to say invalid file found..

Great advice, magic touch. I was exactly thinking about doing that. But then again, everytime we need to do an update, we have to restore the original executables? What would be the point of using the "fix". What does it actually do to the game? Sorry for not being so experienced, but before this Showtime expansion, I used the images from piratebay without any kind of problem, just had to keep an image on my virtual drive (poweriso) and everything worked as if I had an original DVD in my drive.
I do this for years, since Sims 1, and always worked like a charm, easy, simple and effective.
I will try something else tomorrow and let you all know (I will just install the disks and see if I can isolate the content from store that breaks the opening of saved games, which was the reason I tried all this stuff).

I have a feeling that if I update to the version 1.31 only, it might work.

it needs to read about what version the fix support!!!

the fix for 1.31 does not work for 1.32

always check for new fix before update!

how do you restore it?

EDIT: Never mind, I got it to work.
SevnT, You have to follow the instruction TO THE TEE. You can't take short cuts or it won't work. Found that out. Off to play now Smile

Hello,

Actually, the fix was designed so that you don't have to keep copies of the original exe's yourself. The first 10 steps in the Installation Guide are just that: restoring the original exe's, after which you can run the update. Step 13 is about applying the crack, in the #crack folder.
The store content doesn't break save games Smile I'm using the entire store as found on G4TW's mediafire and all my save games are fine.

Thank you, Lady EIDi.

Well, I can assure you that I could not use my cc with version 1.32 of showtime, since I was getting that error when trying to load a saved game.

I uninstalled everything again and updated manually to version 1.31 only, hoping I won't have problems again. I will wait for a version 1.33 or so to update my game, and I will see if that CC Magic works to install and uninstall stuff properly, because I could not uninstall CC from the launcher, but that's another story for another post someday, somewhere...

Thanks again for your time and for being so nice around helping people.

Cheers,

Sven

I
followed all instructions, but it's fine. I just uninstalled and
reinstalled everything with no fix at all and keeping the version stuck
at 1.31, until something new comes from EA.

//EDIT

Here are the news (old problem again, "serious error" when trying to
open saved games) on my long journey to have my Sims 3 working...
