Help-New Game button greyed out

Help-New Game button greyed out

i cant make a new game...i can copy town and play them but i cant make a new game in any world! im stuck in twinbrook and want to try others! when you try to click the "+" new game button nothing happens any fixes?

Hello,
Are you using mods? If you are, disable them for the moment.
If you're not, try this:
Go to My Documents\Electronic Arts and drag&drop the The Sims 3 folder on your desktop. See if you can start a new game, and save it. If you can, copy your saves folder back to My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 and see if both your save games work, and if you can start a new game.
Are you using mods? If you are, disable them for the moment.

Thanks for reply, I had no errors, the game worked fine par the new game button. Also i have no mods, i tried to move sims folder, then asked to reinstall base game did so and still no luck 
any other hints?

ahha i forgot about some things i tried programming ages ago, a
data logger i uses sims 3 to test it, and the logger had my personal
"self-destruct" where it kills itself and encrpts all files around it if
you move or edit it...now i have moved it and once again i can make new
games however... if i try and play old games itnow crashes, thats quite
upsetting as i have an immortal dynasty and one game which has run for
17 generations

Fraid not and its not just those saves when I finnaly move in house hold im in control for 3 seconds then i get "the sims 3 has stopped working..." uncool. help im in sunshine shore if it makes a difference

nope nothing other than ep's and sp's. with more trials i found it crashes whenever i move in anywhere

Hello,
That sounds like the kind of crash you'd expect after getting the unofficial game modification error when you started the game. That could be fixed quite easily by applying the fix.

i have followed the fix... and after some playing with files the game only crashes if a family with a pet moves in, plus new game button still bad
