Service initialization failed 0x0175dcbb error after installing seasons w/the blackbox pack Empty Service initialization failed 0x0175dcbb error after installing seasons w/the blackbox pack

Hi,

I recently came upon a topic on the called How to install <> so i decided to try this but using your seasons pack.

I installed the sims 3 (games4theworld pack) and updated it to the 1.42 version. I then installed the sims 3 seasons (games4theworld) like the post mentioned above instructed. I then moved the sims 3 (games4theworld pack) to my desktop & renamed it.
I finally installed the blackbox pack into the electronic arts folder (Computer>Local Disk (C:)>Program Files>Electronic Arts) & moved it to my desktop & renamed it. I then renamed the games4theworld pack back to "The Sims 3" & moved it back to the electronic arts folder
I then put the 1.42 crack in the bin folder (Computer>Local Disk (C:)>Program Files>Electronic Arts>The Sims 3>Game>Bin).
I tried to launch the game through the "TSW.exe" file in the folder as instructed in the topic mentioned above & got this report:

Service initialization failed 0x0175dcbb Help

Is there anything I did did wrong & what do I do to fix this error?

This is usually caused by one of two things:
- Corrupt user data
- Invalid registry entries

I'll detail each now:
Corrupt user data happens from time to time. Go into your My Documents\Electronic Arts\ folder and rename The Sims 3 to "The Sims 3.bak" (without quotes) and see if it works. If it does not work go ahead and delete the new "The Sims 3" folder and rename the "The Sims 3.bak" back to "The Sims 3", then skip down to the registry section below (look for the bold text). If it does work then we know where the issue is, but your work isn't done.

- Go ahead and delete the new "The Sims 3" folder and rename the "The Sims 3.bak" back to the original. Go into that folder now.

After each of the following steps, return to the My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\ folder.

- Go into the "Saves" folder and see if you have any folders with the text ".bad" at the end (ie: Moonlight Falls.sims3.bad) - if you do, delete them.
- Go into CurrentGame.sims3 and delete anything found in there
- Move the "Mods" folder to your desktop temporarily. Try the game and see if it works. If not, keep reading.
- Go into the DCCache folder and delete all files ending with "EBC" and the file named "missingdeps.idx"
- Delete all files with the words "cache" and "package" in the filename (ie: CASPartCache.package)
- Go into Thumbnails and delete all of the files found in there.

If following all of those did not fix your game, then it's best to just start with a fresh folder, so go back to My Documents\Electronic Arts and delete "The Sims 3". You do not need to do the registry stuff mentioned below.

Fixing the registry
Here's a tool I wrote to help with fixing the registry. When you open it, if you find any red boxes that are not greyed out they will need to be fixed. Let me know if you have any issues with it: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t8929-registry-helper

Hi,

I have tried the details for the "Corrupt user data", but it did not fix my game.
I then download the registry fixer, my antivirus program gave me a report that it is not safe & deleted it.

Are there any ways to fix this problem?

Could you do me a favor and download my tool again and take a screenshot of the problem your antivirus is showing please?

VirusTotal which uses 46 different virus scanners says it's fine: https://www.virustotal.com/file/5b108c248708e5d3dd40e0f821a846f267824d425b0e16eb7cff3066ca30a594/analysis/1356284327/

Metascan uses 41, and nothing: https://www.metascan-online.com/en/scanresult/file/a35e828e7a5e48c5816ec485c419c4ea

Jotti's uses 19 and again, nothing: http://virusscan.jotti.org/en/scanresult/6b4fe72a6664047be152e3091bcaec7c7896f504
