unable to patch to 1.47 (solved)

i got to step 11 and went to do the manual patch this error pops up i have never experienced this before can anyone help me? i tried re-downloading the patch using a different browser and this also did not fix the problem

We see that error now and then, but don't know what is causing it yet. Are you using a download manager to download the patch? If yes, please turn that one off.

Also, try closing your The Sims 3 launcher, prior to running the patch. It shouldn't make a difference, but just to be sure.

If that didn't work either, please try again one more time: re-downloading the patch using a different browser.

no i do not use a download manager but i do think i know what has been causing this error at least for me, if i am correct its do to the file not being fully downloaded. i will update if i find out this is the cause.

This error is nearly 100% of the time caused by files not being extracted properly. In the case of a standalone executable that gives this error (such as the updates), it's what is called a "packed executable" which means it self extracts (sometimes to disk, sometimes to RAM - in the case of the updaters, it extracts to RAM and then runs the setup). In the case of packed executables this error is caused by an incomplete or corrupt download, so your thought process is correct.

yes that is in fact what was wrong we were in the middle of changing our internet service and the new one wasnt working properly and therefore i was unable to download the file even though it showed like it did
