Re: The Sims 4 announced!
I would hope that the system requirements won't be too "high-end" as well (since my computer couldn't even play The Sims 3 according to system requirements, it plays it anyways but lagged).

Of course they'll be higher, we're talking 2014. But that doesn't mean that the game will run worse than The Sims 3 -.-
I give up.

If your pc doesn't run The Sims 3 according to the system requirements, and yet it does, I wouldn't expect it to run TS4 at all. As TUN3R says, you may expect the requirements for TS4 to be significantly higher than the requirements for TS3.
I don't expect to run TS4 on my pc at all, which also barely runs TS3 (though it does so reasonably).

Of course they'll be higher, and I know I'll have to buy a new computer to run it... I was just hoping it won't have to be thaaaat expensive, meaning it won't be a super-super-computer...TUN3R wrote:Of course they'll be higher, we're talking 2014.
Thinking about it, every time I bought a new computer was for The Sims... My first own computer for The Sims, a better one for The Sims 2, which is also the one I'm using for The Sims 3, and getting ready for a new one when The Sims 4 will be out

Agreed. They're rushing it. They haven't even fixed all the glitches etc that came with S3! It's ridiculous. Not to mention all the fugly crap that EA adds and tries to charge a fortune for.
I've been reading around that a lot of the ts3 modders such as twallan and pescado won't be touching s4. And if they do, it won't be for a long time, if ever.

That's bad news
I hope they'll change their minds once they start playing the game and maybe find it awesome

I doubt that's true, but if it is, they are just jumping on the bandwagon just like everybody else.
I hate EA as much as the next man, woman, child or alien but bashing on a product before
The Sims 4 is coming, deal with it.

Not bashing. But they're rushing their games before perfecting the previous one.
And I just wish they'd find a way to make their games a little less heavy on pc's. I understand why it is. It just sucks. I've had my pc game built. But not everybody can do that.

Rushing? Might have been worth checking The Sims 3's release date before you assumed that, TIP: It was FIVE YEARS AGO.
Anyway so what you're saying is they should waste time fixing a game that is broken from it's core and probably beyond fixing instead of developing the next installment which is overdue and could be waaay better than the current one? I'm having trouble understanding that logic.
And no offense but if you have an outdated PC you shouldn't expect to be able to run any new game on it. The Sims 3 ran fine on almost any PC with a graphics processor, even the weakest or incorporated ones. Sure it was always buggy as hell but performance wise it ran perfectly on any (back then) up-to-date PC, low-end or high-end. It runs like crap now because of all the expansions, so keep asking for more of those, I'm sure that'll solve your problems... You can't expect developers to create software for outdated PC's just cause some people can't keep up, if they had done that we'd still have PS1 releases today. It's already bad enough that the consoles are slowing the PC gaming industry down.

You're assuming a lot.
A) My pc is just fine hence why I said, not everybody can afford to do that.
B) I'm saying that they're rushing releases ie: paradise Island is coming in June, University is only 3mnths old and at the same time they announce a new version as well. I'm not talking about the original.
C) How can customers be confident in the new product if the old one still has bugs in that EA just never bothered to fix? There's still a Seasons glitch in the game in that people are still complaining about on the forums.

Neither am I ._.

Just like that. If you had any confidence in the developer at all, you wouldn't be here. Neither would I or anybody else. But speaking of confidence, what you're saying is that you don't trust Maxis to release a new game that's actually any good, but you do trust 'em to fix the old one? AKA spend more money out of EA's pocket with no profit in return? You expect too much. Way too much. You should have expected a quality product before you bought it (did you?), not after.
Anonthoughts wrote: There's still a Seasons glitch in the game in that people are still complaining about on the forums.
There's always a glitch. There is no game without glitches. Again with the expectations...

It's not the problem of confidence and too much expectation, man! It's the problem of responsibility. I agree that EA would never do anything with no return like fixing glitches. NEVERTHELESS, it's their responsiblity and a must to do it, whether they would do it. I know some of us who bought the game would think they are being cheated by EA since EA took their money and the products are clearly not worth that much because of numerous glitches.

EA? No game publisher in the right mind would do that.
FYI EA have been '"cheating" them for over a decade, I don't know what to think if they still buy their products AND have absurd expectations from them after all this time.

Minecraft (Mojang), TF2 (Valve). They do fix glitches and hear feedback to help improve their products every single time when an update is released. There are game publishers willing to cooperate with their customers and fix glitches.TUN3R wrote:cat2006house wrote:It's not the problem of confidence and too much expectation, man! Poor examples, for three reasons:
1. Neither Minecraft or TF2 have sequels, they will cease to be updated as well once they do have sequels.
2. Neither Minecraft or TF2 come even close to the size or complexity of The Sims 3.
3. Both Minecraft and TF2 still have issues. Neither MoJang or Valve fixed more issues than Maxis has. That's because MoJang would rather spike up the sales by adding new content and Valve is more conscerned with making the game easy for people who suck at it so that they'll buy more hats, but also because there is no such thing as a game with no issues, technical or otherwise.
Now you're probably gonna say "Yeah well they don't have sequels cause MoJang and Valve want to make sure they are fixed before releasing sequels!". Wrong. They don't have sequels because one is an indie game and one is a Free To Pay game, they are a steady source of income, whereas the sales for normal games like The Sims 3 eventually dry out. Sure EA keeps releasing expansion packs and Store items, but as you can see nobody really buys them, not nearly that often to provide a steady, profitable income. Plus the sales on expansions dry out eventually as well, especially since every expansion makes the game s*it on the system a little more. Do the sales on hats / keys / Mann Up tickets / whatever, dry out? Nope. Do the sales on indie games dry out? Well yeah eventually, though seeing as they cost half as much as a normal game at best, the sales will roll for quite some time.

That's not true at all. An example is Paradox Interactive, that other than releasing DLC, they also release frequent free patches that not only fix bugs, but also add new functionalities (see the new technology panel they added in the 1.10 patch for Crusader Kings II).TUN3R wrote:EA? Crusader Kings? That game consisting only of a User Interface right? That's cute, but I'm talking about real games here. Plus Crusader King 2's patches will end as well eventually, and by the time that happens I doubt there will be nearly as many as The Sims 3's.
So far you's and the other person's excuse for wanting EA to deny us The Sims 4 is "other companies release patches". FYI, so does EA. I think what you meant to say (but didn't) is that other companies actually fix major bugs and not just simple s*it that is easier to fix simply so they have a long list to present when a new patch is out (MoJang and Bethesda do the same btw, Valve only fix bugs that make good players even better). That's true, but they did fix most of the base game's bugs, even added new features. So why does it still have plenty of bugs? (for me it doesn't, but I'll go with the majority, even if it's the same majority that complained about Mass Effect 3's ending and The Sims 3's delay) It's because of the expansions, which are already far too many. So go ahead and ask for more expansions, that ought to fix your bugs.
You can complain all you want, but The Sims 4 is still coming out. The sooner Maxis stops supporting The Sims 3, the sooner they can focus on The Sims 4 and make sure it's worth buying by the time EA decides it's time to release it.

Good point, but I think TS4 will simply direct more "business" our way with brand new glitches that won't get fixed.

If they don't stop wasting time on The Sims 3, yeah, it will. It's been 4 years, do you honestly think they began working on The Sims 4 yesterday?

Re: The Sims 4 announced!
No obviously I didn't.
They probably spent a few years on TS3 as well and yet, we get people here complaining about issues every day. Do you honestly think TS4 will be any different?
I don't, hence why I think TS4 will simply direct more "business" our (as in, G4TW's) way.

And just to clarify things, I'm happy that The Sims 4 is coming out, and certainly I wouldn't want to "deny" this game to anybody. Probably you're not reading, or you're just putting together many opinions from different users, I don't know.

I'm not complaining about issues, in fact after I installed every single patch one by one (which the game would have done automatically had I owned it) after installing every expansion prior to Generations, I've hardly had any issues at all. I think most of the issues are due to people not knowing how to properly install a game...
Anyway nobody is forcing you to take care of "business", just like nobody forced you to take care of "business" with The Sims 3. Don't tell me you never expected The Sims 4 to come out at all? Well, actually neither did I, but that was recently. I expected the announcement a long time ago.

Yes you were pointing out something that Maxis does as well. What you implied is that those companies will do that forever. Honey, they won't.

I'm not complaining am I.
I'm not even experiencing that many problems even with my low-end pc.
Still the fact remains that a lot of people are experiencing problems with the game. More so than with other games. And if the majority is having problems, it's not exactly "easy to install" is it.
And yes I did expect TS4 sooner rather than later. It's not surprising though that it took them 5 years, it was the same after TS2. And then before that with the original sims.
I'm not really anticipating this one though. Goodness knows I can't run it on my pc and it doesn't bother me. I'm not done with TS3 yet. I'd rather play a more "complete" TS4 once they release a couple of EP's anyway. And TS3 has what I thought was lacking in TS2, neighbourhood progression.
