Sims 3 Launcher crashes immediately, unusual error from direct launch. [SOLVED]

Hi all, the guy with the SKU problem from earlier is back.

So, got everything installed, dandy and ready to go, used the master fix, and I'm still stuck in the mud. Here's what happens:

When I try to launch from the launcher, it just immediately crashes. You get ye old windows 7 sims3launcher has stopped working window, and it just caves.

So I said, allright, let's try from the game itself, TS3W. Screen flashes black a moment, and THIS little gem pops up.

"Unable to start game"
"Service initialization failed (0x024e424f)"

Now, I searched for this, and found someone had been pointed to auto-registry fixer earlier, but upon looking for it myself? It's gone. Any hope for this privateer?

Is your game up to date? Did you correctly apply the fix (follow ALL steps)?

Hello there,

Try the following things:
-uninstall the game
-clean your registry ! (for example, with "CCleaner")
-defragment your hard-drive
-re-install the game (of course with the ultimate fix)

In theory something could be wrong with your "user files" too:
Go to Documents/Electronic Arts/ and rename your "The Sims 3" folder (like this "The Sims 3old").
After that try starting the game..if you can start it, I suggest putting your old savegame (from the backup) back into the "Saves" folder of the newly created "Sims 3" folder. If you can start and play the game with no troubles at this point, the problem is not your savegame (which is good Smile

Hello,

Actually this error suggests one of 2 things.
-You might have a mod that's incompatible with your current game version or,
-Your crack is incompatible with your current game version.
There's no need to uninstall, just check your mods folder. The easiest way to see what's causing the issue, is to disable the mods folder for now. Rename it, or remove it from Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3. If your game starts fine, one of your mods is outdated. If you still have the same error, it's your crack and the problem can be fixed by downloading the fix and applying its crack.

... where's this mod folder? ^^;;

My Sims 3 is dated to be from 2009. Is that our current crack?

Hello Ghostwish,

Mods folder is in Documents/ Electronic Arts/The Sims 3, if you put one there. I mean when we first install Sims 3, there aren't a Mods file, but we put there when we want to MOD the game. Just check it, and if you have it, please remove it and run your game without it to see if the problem continues.

Then it's about the crack, as Lady ElDi said. If it possible, make sure that you install the games from here and apply Ultimate Fix.

Anyway, yeah, been applying the ultimate fix. Except, when I get to this one?

11. Now, open the The Sims 3 launcher and navigate to the "Update" -tab. Choose "Refresh". If a new update is shown, install it. Now you should have got the latest version of the game. (RECOMMENDED ) If you get an “Invalid File” error during the update process or if you have ANY other problems during the update process, use THIS manual patch instead!)

... the launcher is still having that same problem. :\

Ah, allright.

Welp, I did it all. Interesting thing to note: When I did the manual patch? It said the game was already that version. I patched anyway, and continued, but we're right back to square one. The launcher just insta-dies, and still getting that service initialization failed error when launching straight from TS3W...

I am just thinking that it isn't a launcher problem. Otherwise when you try to open the exe directly or bypass the launcher would help.

I think it could be the incompitable problem, between your base game and EPs and using the wrong crack for them.

Where did you get your base game?

Yeah, I saw a similiar issue where it was a registry problem. On that note, I ran CCleaner, did a full wipe of any and all registry problems that came up, and we're having the same problem still. I always check both the launcher and the exes.

Anyway, to answer your question, I get all my sims 3 stuff, base game expansions and all, from games4theworld.

Another theoretical possibility could be to fully update your computer's OS, and (if you are running Windows) your .NET framework.

I suppose you mean this here ? I'm afraid you still have to wait a bit until Admin has re-uploaded all the stuff at another site (since the previous Mediafire account was closed down).
But to come back to the .NET framework (if you're still interested): depending on your particular OS (and any installed service-pack) , you should google for the most up-to-date .NET framework available. After downloading that .exe file just double-click it and follow the instructions.

Found it! .NET framework updated to 4.5.. annnnd same problem. Sad

Well, sims is still sitting there like a broken butt, so I'm going for
another approach. I'm going to uninstall everything, and then reinstall
the expansions one by one until I find the culprit. We'll see how this
goes.

Okay, might be a problem, might not be, but this?

9. Start the The Sims 3 launcher. You'll get a message that you're version of the Game is not
compatible. Click 'OK'. You're now on the Update window. Check the box inf front of the
'SIms3_2.5.12.004002_from_2.0.86.00.2002.exe' and click 'Update now'.

This
never happens. I launch from the Sims 3 Launcher (Sims3Launcher), and
what it gives me is an update to the store... My version is still
sitting at 2.0.86.021002.

Edit: Oh bloody damnit. That's for World Adventures by the way. KIND OF AN IMPORTANT DETAIL THAT.

Well. World Adventures crapped out. It keeps looking for a game disc.
This is very odd.. I was at least playing world adventurers, ambitions,
and university life before...

I think I really need that registry fixer.

One of the sites you can download manual patches for expansions before "Generations" is this here.
Just make sure to download the patches that match your "region version" of the game (for more info on that, see this article here.)
Though I'm not sure if this can help in your case, but yes, you should try it.
