Sims 4 stopped working? [SOLVED] Empty Sims 4 stopped working? [SOLVED]

Post by Guest Thu 04 Dec 2014, 21:52

Hello, so I've just discovered a problem with my Sims 4 game that I downloaded from you guys at Games4theworld (*waves*). Upon installing the game ages ago, I had to install the Ultimate Fix to get it to work (just before I get told to install it) so I've done that. The game has worked fine since this time, but I haven't played it in a while. Just now, I went to boot up the game, when an error popped up. It reads:

'Unable to start:

Cannot start because required game data is missing or damaged. Please try reinstalling the game.

I just totally panicked, so decided to come straight to you guys to ask you what should I do? I'm downloading the Ultimate Fix again right now, just in case that will fix it, but have you got any ideas what could be wrong? I don't think I ever changed anything in my files, apart from deleting my resource.cfg files - though I replaced them all straight away (loooong story...). Do you have any idea why this is happening? I'll let you know if the Ultimate Fix fixes my problems.

//EDIT

It didn't work...I really don't know why - reinstalling it would be an option, but it takes so long to download, it's a last resort kind of thing. Do you have any idea of how I can fix this apart from reinstalling?

//EDIT

I have figured it out - I removed ALL CC, and my game opens - I therefore believe a piece of CC caused my game not to run. I'm gonna put it all back in one by one to test which broke my game, then delete it.

Hello again,

Yes, do filter your CC and let us know your result ! Smile  For the future, you can also put all NEW custom content items in a "Test"-subfolder, and then try the game. If you notice problems, you know that one of the new items you put in the "Test"-folder probably caused the issue. For a basic guide on how to handle CC in Sims 4, see this here:

P.S. please click on the EDIT-button in your post, to add stuff to your original message. And do NOT post multiple times in a row. Smile  I merged all your posts into one. It makes following a thread easier, if people only post ONE message, and then wait for someone to reply.

I'm really sorry - believe it or not, I've been looking for that button, but I was really tired, so I must've missed it! I don't know how, it's so clear now! I tested it, and it's a piece of CC I got from The Sims Resource - the Lemingstone Modern Garden.

So my game runs fine now, thank you for all your help  Smile

Mod edit: problem solved, topic closed. Have fun. Very Happy
