Installing expansion packs on paid base game ?
I bought the base game (that camewith the late night expansion pack and high end loft stuff) about 2 years ago. I decided tonight to try torrenting some expansion packs. is there any way to install the torrented expansion packs and have them work for the game I have, or will I need to install the torrented base game?

Hello and welcome to the forum @flowchild,
First of all: does the compilation of Sims 3 games that you bought 2 years ago, need Origin to run ?

Re: Installing expansion packs on paid base game ?
Hello,
Welcome to the forum.
It sounds as if the game you own is a "special edition". Am I right?
If it is, it's not going to work with downloaded expansion packs I'm afraid. The only suggestion I can make at this point is to download the ones you already had, or the compilation of course, from www.games4theworld.org.

have to delete temp files during process?
I'm currently on step 2 of how to properly install the sims 3 (install any expansions). I ran out of disk space while doing this, and had to clean all temp folders as they alone were taking up 319 gigs of space. I just want to know if this is going to mess up the installation process as a whole? Like, will the instructions still work? I'm just unsure, as I was watching ccleaner while it was deleting, and saw a file I know was in one of the expansion installations from watching WinRAR extract. I'm not sure if what I saw being deleted was just the file WinRAR saved while extracting the setup application or not.

For the time being, let's keep all discussions about The Sims 3, in just this thread here, to make it easier to follow the discussion and also to make it easier for us to follow your progress and suggest more individualized tips.
If you delete these temp-files, they should not affect the actual installation at all, if you ask me. So yes, free up enough disk space, and try the installation again.

Re: Installing expansion packs on paid base game ?
alright thank you. I went ahead and started installing the rest of the expansions and stuffs I hadn't gotten to yet after I cleared it
//EDIT
also, is it normal for the extraction for the stuff and expansions to take an hour and a half? every one ive done so far has taken at least that long, sometimes longer.

319 GB of temp-files seem quite a lot, but then, I myself never encountered it (as I "clean" my stuff regularly). Feel free to keep us posted, I will leave the thread open for now.

Sorry for the late reply,
The extraction of the download contents can indeed take a while, depending on your computer. If it's an older/weaker model, then it will take longer.
Also, I also wanted to check back if your original problem is meanwhile solved ? If so, is there anything else we can assist you with for the moment ?
