none g4tw Sims 4 won't let me use mods

I've downloaded the game successfully, and have been able to start up the game multiple times, no mods, just fine. however when I try to use mods it messes up the game. I only actually use two, and I've alternated both to try to see which one was the trouble maker, and the answer was both.

 Does anyone know why this might be, and furthermore may be able to offer a solution?

 I can play without my mods of course but I can't help but feel the mod gods are punishing me for being so impatient haha.
