Origin is not running error. [CLOSED]
I have followed EVERY instruction to a T and reinstalled twice trying to fix this.
I have tried every single fix I've found on here and nothing is fixing my game. And my antivirus is off.
I'm really not sure what to do. I've downloaded from here in the past and had no problem. But after getting a new PC, it seems like TS4 just won't run.
A list of things I've tried:
Turning off both windows defender and my antivirus (webroot)
reinstalling, making sure to follow the steps
Putting in a new "game" folder
Changing "The Sims 4" folder name and location
running as admin
checking for the Lavasoft program which I don't even have
Tried getting the ultimate fix which has been discontinued
Turning off internet before playing
None of these has worked, I continue to get that error. if anyone could help me I'd really appreciate it. I've never had any issues with your games before until now and I hope this can be resolved
Edit: Something I've noticed is that every time I launch the game, the files RldOrigin_ext.dll and RldOrigin.dll are disappearing. I'm not sure if thats supposed to happen or what. if not, I don't know what would be deleting those files as I actually uninstalled webroot (since I don't really need it anyways) and double checked that windows defender is off. is that what could be causing it?

Hello and welcome to the Forum @aicle,
If you are on Windows 10, you might want to choose to turn off the built-in "Windows Defender" completely. Read up on [url=Get together: https://goo.gl/d6yXNx Fitness Stuff: https://goo.gl/jd53NP]this guide here[/url] how to do it. If you have any other antivirus software, you have to make sure that you (properly) add the location where the game is installed to the 'exclusions' in the program. At that point, please try doing the necessary research on your own, as with the variety of antivirus programs, it's not always possible for us to comment/walkthrough on every available program.
But that's still not all; after you properly added exclusions you have to add new crack files. For that, please delete the subfolder "Game", where your Sims 4 is installed. Then you download a fresh folder here:
https://goo.gl/wK4LdG
Place it where the original folder was, and try re-running the game. Good luck!
P.S. the folder above is suitable for you, provided that you have up to and including "Laundry Day Stuff" installed.

Hi, thanks for your reply
I just went through a guide to disable Windows Defender entirely and my antivirus is uninstalled (since I don't use it anyways and it was interfering). I also tried to put in the new game folder that you posted and deleted the old one but to no avail, the game still gives the same error. The files I mentioned are no longer disappearing from the folder after running but it still gives me the origin error.

Sorry for the belated,
I'm guessing that some computers (especially laptops) have some other built-in "security" installed, that we are not yet aware of. If you have access to a secondary computer, and can't get it working on the current one, consider switching - if only temporarily. Also, did you have a look at this here?
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t19191-unable-to-start-origin-is-currently-not-running-alternative-solutions
Other than that, I'm afraid I can't say more than that, I'm sorry.

Re: Origin is not running error. [CLOSED]
THE origin not running error
This error can only by caused by:- Origin (or ZLOrigin) is still active/running on your computer. Close all instances of Origin/ZLOrigin.
- Your installation folder for the Sims 4 (or a copy of it) is still within another directory Electronic Arts, Origin, ZLOrigin, Origin Games or ZLOrigin Games. MOVE it to f.e. Program Files(x86)\The Sims 4 by Cut/Paste.
- Your anti-virus has disabled the crack Rld.dll and/or RldOrigin.dll in your installiaton folder\Game\Bin.
- You placed a copy of TS4.exe or TS4_x64.exe on your desktop instead of a shortcut.
Reason 2 is often caused when you installed the base game from G4TW's download as this download automatically places the game in C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4.
So MOVE, not COPY, it out of the folder Electronic Arts.
Reason 3. is caused when you have not placed the installation folder The Sims 4 AND the folder where you extract Winrar downloads in the exceptions of your anti-virus.
Extract your highest installed DLC again and copy the folder Game again to your installtion folder.

Same error, fixed for me
I was having the same issue, tried what I thought was every thing suggested.. I was about to give up, and just tried moving my Sims 4 folder, for kicks, out of the Electronic Arts folder, and into my Program Files (x86) folder. No error.
I remember seeing something like this mentioned somewhere in the install instructions, but I think it was specific to something that I didn't think applied to me.
So, to fix for me:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4
to
C:\Program Files (x86)\The Sims 4
I registered to respond, hopefully that helps you out too.
//EDIT
As a note: The offered game folder in the reply link above didn't work for me, and I had to re-apply the most recent patch update's "Game" folder in it's place.
May still work for some, just not for the issue I had.

Re: Origin is not running error. [CLOSED]
My suggestion to all is MOVE the game out of the origin or electronic Arts folder straight after installing the base game. That is important.

Welcome to the Forum @tehambrawr,
Note that the post where I linked to that folder above was made BEFORE we released the newest (1.39.74.1020) update. The above link is or was intended for people who had up to "Laundry Day Stuff" installed, and the filename therefore also says TS4_Game_folder_1-38-49-1020.rar. To avoid confusions like these we are naming those folders according to their respective patch compatibility, these days.
Needless to say, replies are generally geared toward the question that the original poster had, and indeed it can cause some confusion when people "later on" search this thread and read up on the solution. It can be of essence at times, to check the date when the first message in a thread was submitted. Some people also suggested to prematurely lock threads (as is apparently practice on other sites), but in my opinion that would cause even more problems than good deeds.

Re: Origin is not running error. [CLOSED]
I am having the same problem. I have moved the folder, I have also added the exception to my antivirus. It was working yesterday, but not today. I keep getting the origin error.

Same for me. I've followed all the instructions, but nothing, it does not start. Disabled or uninstalled antivirus and firewall, but nothing.

Since this thread here apparently shows up high in the Forum search results, and the original poster has not reported back, I will close the thread.
