Downloading The Sims 4 Plus Expansion.

Hi there I'm quite a newbie and would like some help🥺
I have downloaded the complete collections of The Sims 2 and 3 and i want to add The Sims 4 to my collection.
I want to find out if it is possible to install only the base game and then only Island Living as an expantion.
I've gone through the forums but can't seem to find one as an answer to my question.
I have a 64bit Dell laptop with windows 10.
I know this sounds weird but i don't want all the expantions as i stilk have to get used to the game play and need to figure out if i actually like the sims 4 more than 2/3.
Any advice would be much appreciated

Thank you so much, i have already downloaded the sims 4 base game, island living and the global patch, just needed to confirm that it would in fact work

You also need to grab anadius's dlc-toggler (if you haven't done so already). Alternatively you can also 'toggle' the DLCs manually, by editing the codex.cfg file with Notepad. I think the installation text guide mentions how to do that.
Of course, anadius's dlc-toggler is a lot more convenient.
