I CANT APPLY NEW PATCH Empty I CANT APPLY NEW PATCH

Hello,
I am following the steps to correctly install the sims and stuck at the manual patch.
I am trying to apply the manual patch. I saved the .ex file to the desktop and when I click it, Vista gives me an error.

Redownload the patch, it sounds like something went wrong during the download process.

Hi Ladi ElDi,
I tried this put I still get the same error. I have never manually patched anything before. Do I need to put the .ex patch somewhere in the game folders? I am running it off my desktop.
I have tried to update the game with the launcher but everytime I update and try to launch the game, the version number at the bottom of the screen remains the same. I have updated several times but nothing has changed. I don't get any errors while updating.
I have all games which I bought at retail level.

Hello,

Have a look at your base game version in stead of the launcher.
