Can't adopt stray pets for some reason! Corrupt save? Bad mods? READ MORE PLEASE! [SOLVED]

Ok I posted this on Mod the Sims as well with basically NO help at all. I was wondering if you guys would know WHY I cannot adopt strays, so here's the story of my tests.

1. With mods it doesn't let me adopt on my current save. I've used testingCheatsEnabled true, brought the relationship up and the option, just is NOT there for cats and such.
2. Took out mods and played a new game, let me adopt a dog.
3. Put mods in and started a new game, let me adopt a cat.
4. Current save, won't let me adopt when relationship is maxed.
5. Upgraded from Showtime to Supernatural. Still no change.
6. Copied house and family and made a new save, still doesn't work.


Could anyone PLEASE tell me if it's my save game, that's corrupted or something? I've used Delphy's Dashboard and cleared all mod conflicts, no change....

First, is there enough room in the household for more than one pet? (House capacity + Family size = Household ) Typically a 1 bedroom home will support 3 sims and one major pet (Cat, Dog, etc.)

Which mods are you using and do any of them affect relationships? Also, are they core or script mods?

Are the mods updated for your game's patch level? (i.e. are they all compatible with the 1.38 patch?) If your not sure, check the mod author's site to see if they have been updated.

Try copying your saves to another location and deleting the My Documents/Electronic Art/Sims 3 folder and relaunching the game, then copy the saves back.

As for the mods. I have no idea. But I removed all the script mods. I doubt I have any core mods. Most of my mods are furniture, and buy items. I RECENTLY got the more strays mod, however this problem was happening BEFORE I got the mod anyway.

And my household might be the issue, but it was a 2B 1 bath. That could be the issue... I'm not sure. Should I try moving to another house? Because I can cheat and use Add to the Active family and that works.. Any input on that?

If the cheat Add To Active Family works then it is probably the house. Also make sure the the More Strays Mod is updated for your patch level.

So should I move to another house? or should I use a cheat that disables family limits or something?

The only way I know of to remove family limits is using Master Controller, but I'm not sure if that would help. I don't have pets anymore, so I'm not really that knowledgeable about all the little nuances with it. However, I think you should try moving your sims into a larger house, or adding onto it, since Dracos66 says that the size may effect the ability to adopt.

I'm using furniture mods but now after trying to delete or make a fresh copy of the Sims 3 documents folder, my saves are all screwed up. I had invisible sims because of costume issues (from the Content Store clothes) and now I can't figure out how to get them back... my Sims that are playable are fine, but there are stupid, invisible sims playing with the stray cats outside.

I can't see them, or see their bubbles, I just hear their annoying voices.

Yeah, I looked at it, and realized it wasn't, but couldn't find the topic I had posted that in to fix it.

You did put the save games back in, I assume, but not the mods and downloaded items? Try using "resetsim" to reset all the sims in town. This may help with the voices you hear outside of their house.

Admin and Mods, can you leave this thread open until further notice? I have recently got a TON of game helping mods such as:

Awesomemod
Errortrap
Debug Enabler
and MasterController

So far my game is running much smoother, and I will let you guys know once I move them into a new house if they can adopt.

Awesomemod and Mastercontroller are not compatible!
You have to remove one of them!

Awesome - For a long time - well until now - I thought they weren't compitable, since they both are core-mods, changing mostly the same things, eventhough awesome has some tweets
that correct some error for store items and so on, so I choosed the Mastercontroller. Well, that's about a year ago or longer I think.

I'll look at the Awesome mod again over a cup of coffee and think about taking it back in game. (Why....why....don't we have a coffeedrinking smiley.... )

Ok well I'm starting to just think there's something wrong with the characters in the save themselves now.

I moved from an ENTIRELY new house in an ENTIRELY different town.

From Starlight Shores to Riverview.

From a 2BR, 1B House to
4BR, 6B House

Can I adopt strays? NO!

I'm pissed right now and have no idea wtf the problem is...

Any ideas?

I just tried gameplay with both mods installed.
Awesome mod and Mastercontroller plus more from him.
And I had some problems.

1. A Paparazzi standing outside my house turned into a zombie for no reason.
2. When my sim worked on the Inventorbench, the animation was all screwed up. She was standing in the middel of it and had the arms turned backward to work.

But after removing the Awesome mod, she can use it correctly.

So try to remove Awesome Mod from your Mods and see if that works.

Nope... still can't...

=/ Wtf this is pissing me off now. I have 3 cats and 1 dog and 2 Sims.

Is it the frigging clothes the Sims wearing? I mean wtf is it?

BIG UPDATE!

Found it it WAS mods. -__-. I'm slowly putting mods back to see which ones were causing it. I am able to adopt strays on my current save! However, ... Riverview keeps messing up on me.

I really like Riverview but there's something wrong with with the game because EVERYTIME I go to load the game after saving I get the

"A serious error has occurred loading ..." bug.

But I found out that deleting the World Cache FIXES this, ... but only ONCE EACH TIME!

It's extremely tedious, and I've tried looking for the registry edit in the post you guys have for it and I don't have those keys.

So what can I do to stop my save from being corrupted everytime I wanna play, without having to constantly delete the World Cache?

Mind you the World Cache has 2 files almost both equally to almost 900mb.

Is this normal? Please respond fast. THANKS ALOT.

Ok well.. I did all that and it worked, but I lost all my store content, even after backing up and so I redownloaded EVERYTHING from your mediafire, but now... I dunno if you removed some stuff but I'm missing clothes on my original sims from my saves, and I don't have them even after I reinstalled ALL the content on your mediafire, I'm missing stuff like the Goddess Tank and stuff...

Any ideas..?

Nevermind.. I guess the Sims 3 Dashboard missed some files..

The designers for the Sims 3 should be shot... x.x

I'll let you guys know what happens when it's all fixed.

Well well well! I'm a happy Games4TheWorld user! =D

After spending about a few days Merging all the Store Updates from you guys using s3pe, I have now made my game faster, smoother, AND I can now play practically LAG free, not have any issues and I CAN ADOPT STRAYS! =D

When I find out the EXACT mod causing it I will also let you guys know, so maybe you can see what causes it.

You guys rock. Thanks so much for your help.

By the way. I found 1 piece of clothing for male and female that were invisible in Create-A-Sim mode. Could that be from merging? o.O
