Can't start a new game

I have TS3 and Ambitions installed, and when I try to create a new game it goes to the loading screen, then gets to 99% of the way through the loading bar, but then just stops, and no matter how long I leave it and go afk it's still only 99% of the way through the loading bar. I've uninstalled then reinstalled everything and it still hasn't fixed it.

Nope, none at all. And also, i've just found this out but right at the end of saving the game, it crashes and loses the data from after the last save (as I just found out from playing a couple of hours on one of my current families) so basically the game is unplayable.

Please open your launcher and hover your mouse over the base game icon in the lower-left corner of the launcher. What version does it show? It starts with 1.xx.xx.

When I try to open it now it comes up with "There was an error during start up. Please see the log for more details"
