CAW can't "Edit in game". [SOLVED]
Hello,
About a month ago I installed the sims 3 along with multiple expansions following this guide. Everything went fine except updating my game via the launcher, it just says "Unable to connect to origin" every time I try to refresh. But, I used the manual patch and applied the ultimate fix. I have the latest version as far as I know (1.42.130), and playing the game has worked flawlessly.
However, today I installed CAW (I got the latest version from the official site), which also works fine.. Except for when I try to "Edit in game". When I click that, the rendering screen turns blue for a while, then it just goes back to CAW mode. Looking in my sims files, I found errors looking like this:
[Exception info]
date: 2012-12-28
time: 21.22.49
type: ACCESS_VIOLATION writing address 0x0000000c
address: 0x004e1f56 "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\TS3.exe":0x0001:0x000e0f56
Any ideas?

Re: CAW can't "Edit in game". [SOLVED]
I'm not able to post links since I haven't been a member for 7 days. But I found some information about DEP on the sims wiki, and that article said that if the exception adress wasn't "unknown module" something other than DEP caused the crash, so I figured it wasn't that. (Might still be worth looking into?)
I just tried analyzing the log using a Crash Log Analyzer program I found at modthesims, and it reads the exception as "Incorrect Executable - Expecting: TS3W.exe, Got: TS3.exe." Which is making very little sense to me.

Unless your games are not installed in a system folder (ie: NOT in any of these: Windows\, Program Files\, Program Files (x86)\) you -should- put them in DEP. After every update you have to put them back in DEP - not store updates, by the way. That may fix your error.
The crash analyzer is doing a lot of guess work based on a plain text file (the xcpt*.txt files in My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 - they're XML). All of the crashes I've had, it has diagnosed as being CC related yet the crashes weren't -- that's about how useful it is really (again, it's guessing a lot of the time). It's a good tool, just don't bet the house on what it says.

Hello,
The crash log analyzer may be dubious at best, but in this case it may be on to something. I wonder if this could be of use to you at all.
