New Ultimate Fix
Dear Helpers,
Here's a quick message to update you on some small changes regarding The Sims 4.
I've updated the Installation Guide, so I highly recommend you read it so you know what the users get to see: https://goo.gl/UDM5cQ (Please let me know if you find any issues/typos)
Note that I've recommended users to MOVE their The Sims 4 installation folder from C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\ to C:\Program Files (x86)\ , so you might want to keep that in mind when providing Support. If the users can't find the "old" folder, they might have already moved it to the new location, which is: C:\Program Files (x86)\The Sims 4\ !

Looks good to me. I noticed though you removed the "Get to Work"-part in the new fix ? That will make the download smaller, and I also thought about doing that, last month.
In the end I decided to include the Get to Work-portion too, because I thought the files for that may have been updated too (bug fixes, etc.). So I took the whole RELOADED-thing, back then.
But it should be fine either way, or at least I hope so.
//EDIT
What I didn't think about back then is that I could have used WinMerge to compare the EP01 folders from the latest RELOADED release, as well as from Games4theworld's "Get to Work". WinMerge can also show differences in the file structure (!), and if in this case the files from RELOADED's (latest) release are different, it would be an indicator that they are newer - than Games4theworld's Get to Work...
Maybe I will look into that when I have more time.

You added this to the download page:

Aren't those the same pack...?

I may have added one of them, and forgot or overlooked the existing "Luxury Pack". Also note the "edit" in my previous post, in case you haven't seen it yet (just added it shortly).

Ah, OK. I'll remove the duplicate.
I did read your edit, and would appreciate if you could do that check when you have the time. We're not in a hurry, I don't think the changes would be that big if they exist at all.

Re: New Ultimate Fix
That's nice, you go straight to the point in the guide, which will reduce questions, thanks. I just stopped getting YouTube views from here after you removed the link Carlos posted to my video at the fix page before
Of course, it's perfectly ok if you feel the video doesn't apply anymore, or anything else...
But... just in case... if you like the idea of putting a link to my video there again, it would be very nice

Also I didn't fully watch the video, but does it show how to apply the Ultimate Fix? if not, it might cause confusion, I don't know.

Re: New Ultimate Fix
No, you actually removed the link when you updated the fix to exclude the "Get to Work" (Carlos had put a link to my video/topic in the description of the previous fix). The video shows how to apply the ultimate fix, but it was made using the other version that has everything together (Get to Work + Kitchen etc), since it was the one available back then.Admin wrote:I think I only moved the topic (out) from the Fixes section?Sim Architect wrote:That's nice, you go straight to the point in the guide, which will reduce questions, thanks. I would like to make a new one, but I still didn't get a proper machine working to be able to do so, sorry. I leave it up to you to decide if the video can be useful or not, I feel the procedure is the same, if anybody finds something wrong I can always and an annotation telling people to do this instead of that etc...
But, of course, it is totally up to you, only post it there if you find it useful, otherwise you can leave it alone until I have the chance to make a new tutorial with the new smaller fix that does NOT include get to work etc, but it might take a while, since the laptop I am using is really really really slow (I can barely browse and watch TV on it, even 720p video freezes a bit on BSPlayer) and I am still reassembling the old PC I am going to use soon
Not sure the new PC will be good enough, but I will try using Camtasia or even Fraps without real time compression at all
Meanwhile, more tea for us...
Re: New Ultimate Fix
Sorry, I'm very tired at the moment. Do you actually mean the Fix' description in the .PDF file, OR on the download page with all the links?
I only recall moving your topic out of the Fixes section.
Well... would it be much work to "re-do" it with the new Fix? This way it might cause confusion, since Get to Work is not actually included. (Not sure if you mention that Get to Work is included in it in the first place)

I just formatted a borrowed desktop that performs a tiny bit better and I will try to make a new video with the new fix, thanks!
True, the video was made with the fix version that only required the base game to give the user "everything", and it also has links to the old version as well.
I will likely re-download everything in the next few days and try to record while I install, then see if it works, that would be the best solution (or should I wait the crack of the Halloween pack?)
Of course, meanwhile, I can make an observation in my video that if they got the new fix from G4TW it won't include Get to Work, which they have to install "between the two" or they can download the old torrent (is the new fix the same as the old one, just without Get to Work, or did you change to a "better" crack?).
Thanks anyway, I hope to be back more active in the next few days, the desktop feels way less sluggish than the old laptop I was using for the past few days (I was a bit AFK for a couple of days, maybe, because of using the same SSD, formatting etc).
Meanwhile, time for some food and tea! Maybe we can even play on Minecraft this weekend, who knows what may happen?

No, the crack is still the same. So yes, maybe a warning would do?
I could also make installation videos, but that doesn't help generating views for your videos obviously.
Does the MC server still auto-kick every few minutes, by the way?

Re: New Ultimate Fix
Thanks! I did not try Minecraft yet, sorry. I have been a bit inactive for the past few days, between the bed and some TV, I think I only replied to a couple of topics here too.Admin wrote:Sim Architect wrote:(...) I don't feel really sick, so you don't worry, I just have some fibromyalgia and dizziness/sleepiness/slowness. I am sure that it will get better, hopefully sooner than later, since i put of lots of stuff I have to do AFK on hold, and I am going to handle that, or I will have to pay the consequences, you know (losing money etc).
The main website was down for the past few days https://www.games4theworld.org/ but it seems to be operating now, so I guess the MC server should be on, I might give it a try and I will let you know later, in hopes this computer can handle the game better than the laptop, of course
Yes, sure, you could also make and monetize your videos for sure, you are Admin, you can do everything you wish
I will add an annotation in the video that if they download the fix from the link you have in the Forum, they won't get all the stuff, but just the updates, Kitchen and Spa, so they have to download Get to Work separately or use the older torrent that I uploaded in the past, which is still linked.
I will look forward trying to install Camtasia and record the whole installation process of The Sims 4 with the current stuff, so the new video will be more aligned to what you have available right now. Do you have any guess on the date they will (or even if they will) release the Get Together crack?
Thanks a lot for replying and for the patience specially lately, sorry for not being around much, I will find my way, don't worry

Nah, not interested in earning money from the videos. (Can't even upload new videos because of the bad name caused by EA removing all those TS videos - so I guess I can't monetize any more either anyway)
Not sure about the new expansion pack, has the latest expansion pack been released already?

Interesting topics. Are you all sure that everything is fine with the new/current Ultimate fix ? I'm guessing so, but then I can't really explain why these people are having issues with missing Granite Falls...
//EDIT
@Admin, so I actually un-installed the whole game and re-installed it, with the current official Ultimate fix (I left out "Get to Work" though). When starting the game, you get those windows showing all your DLC, but after the last window is clicked away, the game freezes for a little while, and I get this here:
I'm not 100% sure what it means yet, but that looks very weird. I suspect there is indeed something wrong with the current fix. I can't travel to Granite Falls either, because the option for "go on vacation" doesn't show up for me in the smartphone. Can you guys check in on that when you get to it ?
I did not test this current & official fix, because I used the one that I myself uploaded back then; the one named "temporary fix", which had 4GB filesize and included "Get to Work" too.

If you want, you can send me the videos and I can make little changes to them (mostly the audio, to avoid copyright issues), then I upload them and put them to monetize. When I get paid, I just check how much each of your videos made me and I send you the money using PayPal or something like that
I have been clicking on your ads a few times once a week (did it only once, since the second time the site was not working at all), I hope you get something. I did not buy any service or product, though. I hope that they pay you per click and not only per sale lead. Since the helpers section is a bit more closed, maybe you could open a discreet topic here asking people to visit the main website https://www.games4theworld.org/ (today ads are not showing anymore, even with ad-block plus turned off for your domain, did you remove the ads from there?).
Please, if anybody reads this and finds ads on games4theworld pages, please click them (you need ad-block plus off for G4TW sites for the ads to show) to help our dear @Admin with his hosting fees. Thanks!

I can't imagine that this is caused by the missing EP01-folder, but yes, some other team members should test that too, when possible. And until you have more feedback on this, you guys should tell the people to use Sim Architect's torrent.

Thanks for the tip, I won't even try installing the "new" version then, since it will give problems to users and a "new video" showing how to install the "new way" would cause more trouble.
Re: New Ultimate Fix
Take a look at this:
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t21451-disappeared-granites-falls-and-the-chance-to-go-on-vacation-fix
That user seems to have found the issue. I checked to verify that, and indeed, in the latest Ultimate Fix that Admin uploaded the Delta/GP01 folder is outdated, showing this in the Version.ini file:
While in the latest version that I have installed (directly from RELOADED) that file it's as so:
I haven't checked if there's anything else different between the two, because I'm kind of busy at the moment, but it seems that unfortunately there is indeed at least one problem with the latest Ultimate Fix. For the moment, we now have to direct the users to either Carlos' or Sim Architect's version, as if you now apply the current Ultimate Fix, those files will be replaced and Outdoor Retreat will stop working correctly.

That user seems to have found the issue. I checked to verify that, and indeed, in the latest Ultimate Fix that Admin uploaded the Delta/GP01 folder is outdated, showing this in the Version.ini file:
- Code:
[Version]
packversion = 1.7.65.1020
assetsversion = 1.assets.ml-gp01.36
assetschangelist = 2012840
assetstoolsversion = 1.200.000.113
assetsdatetime = 2015-04-27_19-41-20
baseassetsversion = 1.assets.ml-gp01.10
While in the latest version that I have installed (directly from RELOADED) that file it's as so:
- Code:
[Version]
packversion = 1.10.57.1020
assetsversion = 1.assets.ml-gp01.64
assetschangelist = 2097038
assetstoolsversion = 1.200.000.142
assetsdatetime = 2015-07-22_13-56-30
baseassetsversion = 1.assets.ml-gp01.10

Re: New Ultimate Fix
Update:
So I actually uninstalled TS4 (again). This time, I re-installed the base game, the (Games4theworld) "Get to Work" expansion and after that I modified my "temporary fix". I navigated inside the temporary fix, and removed the EP01-folder. After that, I went inside the "Delta"-subfolder, and only deleted the EP01-folder there. Following this, the EP01-folder inside "__Installer\DLC" was deleted. Everything else remained the same.
So again, the following in red should be removed from inside the Ultimate fix:
(The Sims 4)\__Installer\DLC\EP01
(The Sims 4)\EP01
(The Sims 4)\Delta\EP01
I believe that is all that is associated with "Get to Work". After applying this modified temporary fix, everything seemed to work fine for me, regarding Granite Falls, though I didn't play much beyond that. @Admin, you should delete the same stuff when creating the new (corrected) fix; I'm guessing you may have accidentally deleted more than just the folders I mentioned before.
While at it, I compared the EP01-folder from the Get to Work-expansion, to the EP01-folder from the latest RELOADED release. And to my surprise:
That is what I got in WinMerge. The "left" folder is the one from my temporary fix, and the "right" folder is the one from G4TW's Get to Work expansion. There is no difference.
So yes, the install order is still:
G4TW base game -> G4TW "Get to Work" -> latest (corrected) Ultimate fix.
As a last step I also compared the current fix that is up on here, with my "modified" one that I described above:
The left one is my modified fix, and the right one is the currently official Ultimate fix. The main differences that I found were in the Delta\FP01 and Delta\GP01 subfolders, which seems to be the source of the error that people are facing right now...
I also noticed that the GDFBinary-files (= display language files) inside the __Installer-subfolder are different and that the vc/redist folders have been removed in the official fix, although the latter shouldn't have any influence in all this.
//EDIT
As I had some time left, I felt free and came up (again) with a temporary solution here, asking people to post feedback on the forum about it. This one should work, as I tested it - hopefully I packed it correctly.
And no worries, this time it's been uploaded in just one part... Btw, I didn't edit the main Ultimate fix post, but I may put the MediaFire link as one of the mirrors, later on (if allowed, of course ).

Re: New Ultimate Fix
Hi all,
Thank you for the quick correction, Carlos.
I guess I messed something up indeed, for as far as I can recall, I merged the updated files with the old Fix files.
I'll try to get the corrected Fix up on the other filesharing websites soon. (And update the Ultimate Fix topic accordingly)

Given the latest changes, I edited my global announcement once again, I suggest you all re-read it (you're going to need the information when user report these in-game problems). Here's this:
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t21473-concerning-granite-falls-get-to-work-and-the-ultimate-fix
People can still download G4TW Base game + Get to Work + the Ultimate fix. However, it was found that there were still some glitches; some users hinted at that, and I got another indication from this here. In any case, I came up with the idea of a "Fix addition", which in my case is just 70MB in size. I don't think we should start over (again) and re-upload everything. People can just download Admin's fix, and then add my small "Fix addition".
I believe this method of the "fix addition" is the most efficient and elegant way to counter these issues. And yes, I applied the fix addition to the Ultimate fix (that the Admin posted), and my cash register worked again.
The reason I did not found out about this earlier was because of wrong assumptions. I checked just the EP01 folder with WinMerge that was directly in the game install folder. Because the results were identical, I did not bother to check the rest (like the Delta\EP01-folder), and in hindsight that was naive. But now we know better. I ended up checking TWO different game install folders of Sims 4: one with the stuff from Games4theworld and the other one from RELOADED's stuff. And yes, I found a difference that I missed before. And the difference is now in the "fix addition" that I posted, specifically the Delta\EP01
What we can learn from this, is that you should NOT actually remove stuff from the Ultimate fix, like expansion folders. The reason people are getting these issues is because Games4theworld's "Get to Work" is indeed outdated. @Admin, for the future, you should indeed take RELOADED's updates as they are without cutting out anything. I believe you can still cut out the stuff for the "update-only version". But as for the MAIN Ultimate fix, that should really include ALL DLC (including the bigger expansions). Not sure if uploading these huge files to MEGA would still be practical then, but maybe you want to focus on torrents only ?
//EDIT
It sure is a pain, this version of the Ultimate fix, but as said, it's important to learn from these things. And we now know indeed better next time, on what to do.

Re: New Ultimate Fix
So should I add that "addition" to the current Fix, so it's included in the next release?
And about Get to Work, what about a warning in the Ultimate Fix, that people MUST install Get to Work (via torrent) first, before applying the Fix? That might be more practical than including it in the Fix.

This addition is going to be put in the next release anyway (by RELOADED); no need in my opinion to "incorporate" this small addition from our side, at present. Just tell the users experiencing these issues, to look at the (now edited) Global Announcement. I also put the addition on the main Ultimate fix page.
Yes, we could still keep the install order for next time, but then we need to be more careful. And we shouldn't assume that simply removing those EP01-folders is OK. In this case, the problem I overlooked was in the Delta\EP01 subfolder. This folder is included in our "Get to Work"-expansion. HOWEVER, it is also included in RELOADED's current release. And in the latter, it is "newer".
Obviously, the 1.10 game update also brought along changes in the "Get to Work" files. My personal opinion is that it would be overall much easier to just take RELOADED's files as they are without cutting out anything. Even if it means that these fixes will be huge in filesize. But if you want to keep the install order, then it's definitely doable too. But as said, we'll need to be very careful. I'm confident that the recent experiences were a great help for us in learning about this game (as frustrating as it may have been, lol).
Compiling those files is definitely not as easy as it may look to outsiders, and that's why I suggested to at least wait another while with incorporating the addition. The thing is, we don't know what files are going to be updated yet, so I don't see why we should already start "preparing" for the next release. The more we mess around with the files (without being sure) the higher the chances of messing up.
//EDIT
The base assumption should still be to take RELOADED's files as they are whenever they come out, and not mixing them with any previous updates. From there, take out the EP01-folders for the moment, and do some testing with WinMerge. Compare ONE TS4 install folder that has RELOADED's "complete" pack, with ANOTHER TS4 install folder, that has the stuff from G4TW. If there are any differences, take the remaining files and folders from RELOADED, and add them to the G4TW's folder. These "remaining" files will most likely be the EP01-related ones that were taken out, for the creation of the Ultimate fix in question. Sounds easy ? We'll see.
Maybe I'll write a post about the basics of using WinMerge and what to pay attention to when compiling these files, so that the other team members can also weigh in (if they like). Maybe you could even sticky this post in the Helpers area here.
