Not working.
So I downloaded the sims 4 and the two EPs. Installed them properly. Go to play and it won't work. I made sure to add the right files to my antivirus exceptions and shut down origin. Still didn't work. I uninstalled and reinstalled just the base game and got the whole "The content of your user data directory was created by a new user" and told me to update via Origin. I was like, okay, I'll just come on here and install the ultimate fix...and then came hours of BS. The fix came with a ton of malware. And the game still wouldn't play. After finally removing it all, I basically started over again and tried to install the fix without the malware. I noticed it had different installation options, one where you'd get all these additional programs and one where you could select to not install them. So of course I selected to not install them. But then that didn't work so I hit cancel - it installed anyway. Now I'm dealing with annoying pop ups but those should be gone again after I finish this scan.
I'm not really sure what to do. I like this site because it's easy. I don't have to sort through tons of torrents and try to find one that works. But this is frustrating. I've already uninstalled it again to redo it if someone can help me.

Hello and welcome to the forum,
About the thing with the "malware", there was another user who also complained about this. Feel free to read up on this thread here, and especially the replies of me and the Admin.
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t21740-trust-you-but-fix-this
Our Ultimate fix for TS4 is basically a bunch of files that you simply need to copy & paste over the original install location.
You didn't mention what exactly your initial problem was ? Was it the "Origin must be running error" ? Depending on what your Windows system is, try turning off Windows Defender and/or your regular anti-virus program. And re-apply the "Get together" files (no need for the Ultimate fix this time). As a last resort, try uninstalling your antivirus and re-booting the computer. Then re-install those TS4 games.
The error can have a variety of reasons. There is also a thread with possible alternative routes here:
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t19191-unable-to-start-origin-is-currently-not-running-alternative-solutions
Sorry to hear about your difficulties that you are facing, but The Sims 4 is very difficult to handle. Probably too difficult for the average user, and there are no easy solutions here. Back to the "malware issue": I also noticed that you registered a while ago on this forum and you also indicated that you used the site in the past. And if we didn't "do malware" in the past already, why would we start now ?

Re: Not working.
No, my issue ended up being the thing about needing to update my game via origin. I thought installing the ultimate fix would fix that but it didn't.
The fix I downloaded was the base game only one since the second time around I did not re-install the two EPs. So idk if the fix with the EPs would have malware or not. I'm also not sure why this download would have it. I mean I'm used to downloads that have optional software, and usually you can just opt out of downloading it. But when I tried it downloaded anyway.
I'll have to look over those links later today. I'm kind of afraid to try since I've spent so long removing this malware twice lol.

Hello again,
That is interesting. If you get the prompt to update via Origin, please see this topic here at first:
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t20385-a-note-on-automatic-game-updates-for-owners-of-the-sims-4-on-origin
After which, I would recommend you download both Get to Work as well as Get together, from this site here:
https://games4theworld.org/downloads.html
These downloads function in the same manner as the actual Ultimate fix: they contain files and folders, that you need to copy & paste over the base game installation.
And if you haven't done so yet, make sure to configure your anti-virus exclusions properly. See for example my written guide here or watch Sim Architect's video guide to learn about the basics of configuring Windows Defender & anti-virus systems.
Take your time for that. And good luck.
