Download other expansions after purchsing base game Empty Download other expansions after purchsing base game

Post by Guest Mon 02 May 2016, 17:21

So I have a question.. I own, as in bought disc from store, Sims 3 and 12 expansions and DLC. I uninstalled them all after I found a copy TS4 with all expansions. However, I am not able to update TS4 because it's a pirated copy. So I have been considering reinstalling TS3 just so I can have updated versions. My question(s) are...

If I reinstall the discs and I am gonna list them so it makes more sense, can I download a torrent version of the ones I don't have? and if I do that can I connect to origin still? I enjoy being able to get on the sims website to download cc. But if I add a torrented version I will be forfeiting my right to Origin? right?

Which do you guys prefer? TS3 or TS4?

I have these expansions..

Starter pack
late night
high end loft
generations
world adventures
hidden springs / monte vista
seasons
supernatural
island paradise
into the future
pets
university

Now if I reinstall them, can I download the remaining dlc? and can I still use Origin?
Thanks in advance..

Hello,

Yes, you can mix disc-based Sims 3 games and pirated expansions. The guide here still applies:
https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly

Origin is only going to cause you problems, unless you know what you are doing. I'm not even sure what you are going to do "with Origin", because there are no special benefits of adding those disc-based games to an Origin account. What CC exactly are you planning to download ? The ones from the official Sims 3 exchange ? If so, you don't even need any legit games for that. Read the guide here on how to download from the Exchange.

But if you want to use Origin nonetheless, have a look here and make sure to at least disable automatic game updates. But again, I don't recommend bringing Origin into this.

I like The Sims 3 more, because of the multitude of items/DLC and the open world. Smile

HEY Carlos!!! Carlos is tha man!!! thanks again for coming to my rescue!!!
If I reply twice to this I apologize... I thought I hit send earlier however nothing is showing up. I don't necessarily want to deal with origin. It just prompts me to install through origin and I don't know any other way around it. So you are saying I can delete origin after I get done installing my games again?
As far as CC, I really just download.. (and I do download a lot) from tsr, with the occasional dl from another source, but I love cc for furniture, building materials, etc.) I had very few select script mods with TS4, such as one that would alter the blur, and add leg and arm hair to male sims.... that's about the extent of cc I use. I have not yet looked into the possibilities of mods with TS3.

Guess I will spend the rest of today reinstalling these discs, which I should have NEVER deleted, and catch up on reading the links you so kindly posted for me. Thanks for that.

If you get a prompt to install through Origin, that is not good. I'm not sure with which games it happens though...is it with all your Sims 3 games, or just with the disc-based ones, or... ?

You probably don't want to re-download the entire compilation, but Games4theworld has a complete collection of The Sims 3 that includes the base game and all expansions/stuffpacks for it. It is available here:
https://games4theworld.org/downloads.html

Install instructions are included. Feel free to consider this option if you like. Other than that, good luck with your endeavor, and feel free to post back if you have more questions along the way.

Download other expansions after purchsing base game Empty Re: Download other expansions after purchsing base game

Post by Guest Tue 03 May 2016, 01:05

yeah all of my games are disc based, and all of them prompt for origin in order to be installed. I read the link on mixing the games, so I am going to try it that way first. So when I start downloading the pirated games I can do like I did with TS4 and just place it all under program x86 and create a shortcut, and skip needing a disc to play right?

//EDIT

So, I went ahead and installed all of my games though origin, and it placed the file under
C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games... the sims 3

I am currently in the process of downloading all of the others that you guys have to offer. So, do I need to go ahead and move it from C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\the sims3
TO:
 C:\Program Files (x86)\The sims 3?
and then move all of my downloaded packs to that new folder? then download the ultimate fix and place it where its directed in the installation guide?

AND, Also, can I uninstall and delete then Origin from my computer, and place a short cut from C:\Program Files (x86)\The Sims to my desktop?

Phew... If that's right I can feel myself getting smarter...

(please let that be right)

//EDIT

question.. I was about to do all that I mentioned above,  Download other expansions after purchsing base game 1558443509 , yet when I went to move the folders I noticed the sims 3 was the only one listed under the origin in programX86, the rest are listed under programX86 electronic arts folder. So my question is, do I combine all of my disc install copies to one folder (the one I created under programx86, the sims 3) and then do I move all of my pirated copies there along with the ultimate fix? then create a short cut from there to my desk top?

If you want to add pirated expansions or stuffpacks you do NOT move anything. You can install them wherever you like. During the installation, choose the appropriate install location that you like. And for now you can leave Origin. As long as you follow the guide here you should be fine:

You start the game with the TS3W.exe, that is located under C:\Program files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 3\Game\Bin.

I believe you may have done something wrong here. You should never have moved any of the install folders or files, anywhere. The tricky thing about the game is this; I just found out myself about this, not too long ago. If you want to install the game in a non-default location (i.e. something else than the regular C:\Program files (x86)\Electronic Arts) then you have to create the folders manually, or else the installer will put literally all files in that directory, which can be confusing at the end. If you AFTER the installation want to "sort out" things, then you'll be in trouble. I described the phenomenon here, and although it is about external drives in particular, you can apply that to all non-default install locations.

As for your problem, try re-applying the manual patch and then the Ultimate fix, and see if the game runs. If not, you'll need to do a manual un-installation (see this guide here), and after removing the stuff manually, re-boot the computer.

After that, I suggest you use a pirated Sims 3 base game, and not the Origin-one. Then install your pirated (or disc-based) expansions/stuffpacks in their default location. You do NOT have to select a location, just click on "OK" all the time during the install. And the program will then install the game automatically in that default location.

If necessary, I can assist you via TeamViewer in that, but for now, at least try removing your current installation completely. Including this Origin base game of The Sims 3.

Yeah, I found your link topic on uninstalling and have downloaded the uninstaller. I am currently moving all of my pirated expansions onto my flash drive. So I don't have to download them again, the I am going to uninstall EVERYTHING sims 3 related and start fresh then I am going to download G4TW copy of the base game.. One more thing, I did run across something in one of the guides saying I needed to apply the crack to all of my items, including my disc based ones. Is that correct?

The only thing you need are the two files inside the #Crack-folder of the Ultimate fix. The folder contains the TS3W.exe and the TSLHost.dll. You need to copy and paste them into C:\Program files (x86)\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin. That is the sub-directory of your Sims 3 base game. You don't need to apply that crack elsewhere though.

It may be possible that you will download the older basegame of The Sims 3, from Games4theworld. If so, note that the files inside the .RAR are in the .ISO file format, and you need to mount those image files. If you are unfamiliar with how to mount image files, you can download our "mounting guide" from this MEGA-link here:

Good luck again, and take your time ! Very Happy

ok, thank you. I will try all of these steps... one more thing.. on the installation guide it breaks down to each individual game, do I need to apply the .rar files into each folder as it states in the guide, including in my disc base folders for each individual expansion?

You only need to create one folder for each (expansion/stuffpack) .RAR.

You extract the content of each .RAR, into one of the folders. Then go into these folders after the extraction is done, simply run the setup. Use the serial number from the install guides (inlcuded in each expansion) if you need a serial number.

UPDATE:
I reinstalled the ultimate fix to my origin games folder ( the two files in the #crack folder), I added all of my .exe files to my DEP as suggested in another post I ran across, I don't know what else to do. I am no longer getting the first error, now I am only getting the second, where the game tries to load then it pops up the sims 3 has stopped working. Not sure where exactly I have managed to go wrong yet again, I have done pretty much everything that I have seen in this forum. Sad

Again.. sorry but I just ran across this :

https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t22627-sims-3-launcher-game-not-opening#

sounds to be a bit like my problem, so I suppose I should just go download the entire collection. That means before I install it I have to use uninstaller again to remover everything right?
#sigh I have spent so much money on the things I own and I am going to download it anyways.

Did you move anything related to The Sims 3 after you installed it ? For example, did you move installed files or folders somewhere else, after the installation ?

If you did everything correctly, there should be no issues normally in using an Origin base game with the Ultimate fix. I know that @SeoY for example can run an Origin base game and EPs with the Ultimate fix.

Post by Guest Thu 05 May 2016, 02:06

when I installed the base game from my origin disc it installed directly into its normal spot, program 86 origin games, ect... then when I downloaded all the pirated expansions I opened/unzipped them into my downloads folder and from there I installed each one of them and they placed themselves into programx86, electronic arts folder, then I installed my own disc expansions and they went to the same place. Then I opened the crack folders and placed them where they needed to go, each of the expansions cracks under game bin in ea's folder and the crack for base game under the programx86, origin games folder. I keep trying to do the manual update that I got from here, however when I click on it it says no sims 3 games are installed on this device. I have tried literally everything I have found, and really paid attention to details this time around, I really don't know what I am doing wrong here. I am sure its something so simple...
as far as the downloads folder where everything originated from, its all still there

So I went ahead and downloaded the complete collection, just in case... but I didn't want to do anything drastic until absolutely necessary. I cant seem to find a solution to my current problem and as much as I would like to use my discs in combination with the pirated expansions, if its not possible I will go the route of all pirated. Sad Since I technically haven't ran the game, do I still need to follow these procedures

https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t19018-un-installing-the-sims-3-a-reference-guide#

before unzipping the complete edition? And I there anything I need to know as far as installing the complete edition if that is what I need to do?

Thanks again for all your time and patience with me.

That's why I said somewhere before actually that you should download the pirated base game. Smile  Downloading the "Complete Collection" would not have been necessary (probably), but OK. Or maybe you did in the meantime install the pirated base game, but the reason you are getting the error is because the previous Origin base-game was not removed.

I don't know, at that point I'm confused myself as to what you did or did not do (properly). It's probably best to let it be for the time being. And then I will have a look at it via TeamViewer, and see what can be done. But I don't have time right now for that. Please check back on the weekend here.

ok, so just leave it all JUST like it is, don't install or remove any sims things... gotcha. I will check back Saturday afternoon.
And I did download and install the base game that was .iso and then the power iso, but then I continued to get an error on power iso, something about the end of the file not being complete, and I couldn't get around it no matter what. So I gave up, again... and then redownloaded the complete edition. Guess I will play the sims 4 for a few days until then. thanks again!!!

Was the base game downloaded completely before you started mounting the image files...? And yes, I'll most likely start over with removing everything again, since fiddling around would take too long, and would be pointless too I guess.
